So, are Iowa fans about to run another coach out of town?

I hope not. There are some very good players about to come to town. Just hope they finish games better.

IDK ive been pretty high on Fran this year but watching Iowa late in games is like watching a playground pick-up game that has very little organization.

Many people were even calling for it during the 2014 collapse.. I still think he's our guy but he needs to figure this last 5 minutes thing!! I'm shocked with so many good assistants that this continues to happen

I will add this isn't the first time Fran has seemed to partially lose his guys in the most critical time of the season.

No, Fran is a good coach but he needs to make better in-game calls. He needs to know when to call a T.O. and settle the troops or get them into a set where they can get a good shot. He also needs to recognize points in games where he needs to stick with the hot line-up and go with it.

Would not be surprised. But it goes both ways. Fran can't expect to have these late season fades and hang his hat in the first half and say " look what I did there though" it nice being relevent and talked about, but there are some disturbing trends that have to be addressed. I think he gets two more years to prove what sort of team and program he is capable of.

Hard to coach at then end of games when you huddle with the other coaches and ignore the players.

Oh and calling a time out when your offense is standing still and you are down with a minute to go may be a good idea.

Kirk realized changes needed to be made.

Fran needs to admit his record in close games is awful and part of that is his philosophy and refusal to use TOs.
And the stupid benching of a PG with 2 fouls.. A 4 or 5, maybe, but it's dumb for a guard

I think Fran is our guy, but Im am done w/the choir boy routine. Quit giving schollys to these choir boys from Iowa. I don't care if their dad played starting PG at Iowa, don't give them a scholly. If they have any ties to Iowa, forget them.

Go into the inner city Chicago/Milwaukee/St Louis/Minneapolis and get some serious players. Give up cars, $$, whatever you have to get them here. This choir boy act is getting old. We are not tough in close game situations and every year we throw out these little 6ft white boys who think they can play. Its pathetic. We are not good w/our current players.

How can you call that a good coach. Me I would call that bad coaching.

I'm pissed off to no end right now, don't get me wrong. However, I think you also have to remember that he was handed a pile of sh$& and told to polish it up. While it has been a painful roller coaster, his team's have literally gone farther every year he's been here. In my mind, we will at least finish on par with last year by winning a game in the tourney... and we got a bit of national exposure during the process.

He's talking overall. Not just one little thing. I hate Fran's end game coaching but I'm not giving up on Fran yet. Fran's earned a lot more time here. I doubt he'll get run out of town any time soon.

Wow. A lot of weak, emotional fans in this s*$t hole of a basketball forum. Whatever happens at this point, this fan base deserves it. In the highly unlikely event that I ever stop being a hard core Iowa fan, it'll be because of our crappy fans, not because of the players or coaching. Damn.

I hope not too. We are just now being relevant again since driving Dr. Tom out of town. All he did was take us to the dance every year and sweet 16 appearances.

I honestly think this team can make a run in the NCAA tournament. I think the entire Big Ten has figured out how to play Iowa. The scouting has caught up. The first weekend of the tournament the scouting won't be as good. The second weekend well that's a different story.

Talk about weak and emotional. Pot meet kettle.

Bitch about his coaching all you want but you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

I watched a really good movie during the second half and didn't drop 1 F bomb. :D

Did you not see the Yogi show tonight? He schooled our PG tonight. Did you see our "TOP RECRUIT CENTER" drop the ball out of bounds after a missed FT? did you also see 2 of our seniors miss crucial FT's down the stretch and one of them threw up an AIRBALL.

Did you see the OSU players on sunday absolutly beat the snot out of our starting 5. Don't forget Wisky and PSU who just bodied us up and made the game ugly. Our choir boys couldn't handle the contact and couldn't get open.

Sorry but this group was a top 25 class recruiting wise, but they are not. They were not a top class and they are good players, but they play MSU/PU/anyone else they lose. They are not that good. Fran needs to go look somewhere else.

Bye don' t let the door hit ya. I think the fans are great we're just tired of a coach who can't see the forest because of the trees. You don't have to see the future just look at the past. I love my Hawkeyes but you just can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Fran is starting to sound like ferentz that's football oh I mean basketball snort snort

And why did Fran recruit those guys?

Because they were by far the best players he could get at the time you imbecile . Had nothing to do with all of the nonsense you just pulled out of your ass.

Did you also see Gessel stay in front of Ferrell just about every time Iowa had the common sense to play man in the second half?

If this chocking crap doesn't change with a pretty much new roster next year it's time for the seat to start getting hot.

Right now there's a pretty good chance in my mind this group seniors is the root of allot of the problem.

Umm didn't Yogi hit the game winner (3pt shot to go up 5)?? I thought Mike was on him on that shot. The difference right there, Yogi was #19 recruit in the nation, Mike was #100. That's the difference. Yogi is an elite player and Iowa does not have that. That's why IU is hoisting their #23 Big Ten Title and Iowa is still stuck on #8 (1979).

I realize that was the best Fran could get at the time, but this was a chance for Iowa to overcome the hurdle and be a Big Ten Champ. How do you not have your players ready. Hell how do you lose to PSU/Wisky/OSU. I mean Iowa had this handed to them and this group could not take advantage. So this calls into question how good are they?

Can you be more bigoted?

I've still got hope for our coach. Unfortunately, I was hoping for more growth from the seniors in late game situations and its been consistently disappointing. A great coach is still limited by the execution of the players. We'll see where we are next year.

Can you be more bigoted?

I am sure I can be.

I am serious though, this team has no toughness to it. There is not one player willing to step up in crunch time and take a game over. We see it time and time again, other teams bring in these players and they absolutely own the hawks. Where is the toughness and fight from these current players? Sunday at OSU, no one wanted to take a shot down the stretch. Last night same thing and when we do get a "great" look we air ball it. Simply put Iowa does not have that "hard nosed" tough gritty player who in crunch time steps up.

I cannot remember Iowa ever having that type of player, I am not just talking about this year. Maybe back to the Woolridge days?

Can you be more bigoted?
While the content probably makes most people uncomfortable take a step back and look at some facts! Have you ever been to the championship of an AAU tournament? Have you looked and did research on the ESPN top 150 for recruits.. The poster could have been more delicate in his delivery but he's absolutely spot that a majority of the good players in college basketball come from those areas/ circumstances

you realize we could probably lose out and be a 6 seed. Frans still my guy and his style of bball is fun to watch. The last part of this season has definitely been heartbreaking but the season is far from over.

While the collapses have been incredibly frustrating, I'm still feeling OK about Fran. He made progress from the ashes. Still seeing some upside potential.
