So how was Angerer on the radio?

Listened to a lot of it while driving.

Overall thought he did ok. At first it felt a bit awkward, like Dolph had a guest player commenting with zero broadcast experience. He grew on me the longer I listened, especially when some of his personality came out (I'm always hot because I'm fat, I threatened the refs at halftime (to which dolph replied that he better be careful or we'll be seeing the shortest broadcast career in Learfield history), or the passion that showed down his playing days)

A couple times he reacted to a play 10 minutes before Dolph finished the call, so he'll have to remember that Dolph is usually a play or two behind.

I think he'll be fine when he and Dolph figure out their chemistry.

He was decent. Not bad for an opener. He needs to stop yelling out "let's go" or "yeah!" mid play. I get it might happen during a major game-winning play, but it was fairly often Saturday. It's distracting, and hard to follow what happened. But I like the insight he brings into the modern IA defensive mentality. Stuff like "let them try it." That bring-it mentality that's contrary to the fan's natural thinking.

I think it'll work out fine with more practice.

Agree that “let’s go” is growing cringe 😬 so bad these days as it’s so over used

That was something Eddie started doing a lot more in the later years. He almost ruined a couple great moments in recent history by butting in as Gary was making the call.

Pat is younger and more enthusiastic so it's understandable that he would do this early on in his career (however long this venture ends up being), but I agree that's something he'll learn to adjust to as he goes.

As the color guy, you almost want to react off the call, as opposed to the play itself.

I didn’t get to listen but I hope he is a full-blooded homer. That’s the attitude I want in my Iowa Hawkeye broadcasters. No room for objectivity unless we’re kicking the other team’s butt.

I liked how Pat pretty much immediately knew the result of the play while Dolph was trying to ascertain if it was a first down a fumble or something entirely different

Sounds like the last days of Zabel.

it's too bad he has to be paired with Dolph, the man is useless
I was out running errands during the first quarter. I wouldn’t go so far as useless but Dolph made at least three major errors: He called the opponent “Northern Illinois” multiple times, he had to be corrected on names multiple times, and he’d give minor details for 30 seconds before telling the actual result of the play.
