Wouldn't you think we would give clayberg the scholarship rather then have him use a grey shirt? Unless there is a can't miss prospect that comes down to us.The spot won't go unfilled.
There could be some guys that could be moved around. But last year Iowa brought in a lot of o-lineman and will next years as well. Guys like Reiff, Nelson, gohlston, vejvoda, could al switch to the o-line this spring/summer, not saying all will but a good chance one or 2 May.Looking at the list to date, you'd think there's a backup plan for the position. Iowa hasn't exactly got a lot of OLs committed.
Foster is rated higher than Jackson (not that that means anything), he's a legacy and according to what I read he wanted an offer. Theoretically if we really wanted another tackle to fill out the class they could offer him. But my gut feel is that if Jackson doesn't come, they'll just upgrade the Pella kid's offer to a full scholarship.
I just continue to shake my head at offensive line recruits spurning the hawks and Kirk Ferentz. Jackson you are a tackle recruit young man. Just do a little light reading on what happens if you're a staying offensive tackle at Iowa under Kirk Ferentz. In fact, Kirk coaches the tackle position. You start at tackle at Iowa, you will play in the NFL. Period.
I simply can NOT get my head around the fact kids either don't see this or ignore it to pick the place with greener grass. Their grass is greener because their dog shits everywhere there and you're gonna be playing in manure.
Harbaugh has firmly supplanted urban Meyer as the biggest douche coach in the conference as well.
Jackson would've been a nice addition here at the end. Now I'm just hoping we hold onto Lattimore.
Next year's season and subsequent recruiting class is incredibly important.
LOL...You are clueless on this one. A kid from Michigan gets a late offer from his favorite school and he wants to go there...so the Coach is a "douche?" Michigan lost an OL commit that flipped to Stanford, so they offered. Seems reasonable to me. Your sour grapes, crybaby attitude is unbecoming.I just continue to shake my head at offensive line recruits spurning the hawks and Kirk Ferentz. Jackson you are a tackle recruit young man. Is it ONE reason though? And why is that? That's certainly not the ONLY reason that Harbaugh is a "douche". If you don't know why, then you haven't followed Harbaugh's career (antics) much, if at all.

So my opinion wasn't constructive? Or just not what u want to hear? Your post is, in all honesty, tiresome. Here is ONE reason you seem to be jacka$$. You bring nothing good to any discussion.
Different perspectives and rooting interests are good to have around from time to time.....it keeps things interesting. The only thing you do however, is talk shit and stir the pot. If it makes you feel cool I suppose it is going to continue, but let me tell you in all honesty.....it's tiresome.
Mix in a constructive opinion from time to time......or maybe consider taking a hike.
Harbaugh is a douche. Have you read anything about his recruiting antics? He's a douche. Call me out if you want, but if you're arguing against what were some pretty good points I made, you're the one who is clueless. Either way, you have me confused with someone who gives a damn.LOL...You are clueless on this one. 3>2 So in analysis, your bad outweighs your good.
Glad I could help.
I think the trend in the past has been to let greyshirts stay greyshirts and bring in a fresh body. If camp numbers work out in August then they will bring the greyshirt up, but they will recruit over them.
Common sense has no place on this site..I have no inside information, but I get the impression Iowa really makes you work...and probably doesn't sugarcoat this during the recruiting process. Not suggesting players don't work hard elsewhere or that this concept is new to Iowa, but its a no frills, work hard, stay focused and be patient type of progression and program, and that might not be for everyone. Maybe other elite programs paint a prettier picture as it relates to OL recruits...I don't know. It remains to be a bit of a mystery why we don't sign more high level OL recruits, I do agree with you on that. Thank goodness this staff is excellent at identifying raw talent and good prospects within the state of Iowa, whether its a scholarship recruit, greyshirt or walkon.
I'm sure opposing coaches have also pointed out our depth chart and the big OL class we brought in last year. On paper, our top 5 are quite solid and are young...so it will really take a talented player to crack the starting lineup the next couple years.
I'm surprised(maybe not) at the confusion and outrage over a Michigan kid having serious interest in the University of Michigan. The kid seems like he has a lot of upside, so I would be happy if he selects Iowa City However, if he elects to stay home...that's fine too and won't make or break this program.
