This. All talkI'll believe PD is a Hawkeye when I see him on the mat.
My theory is that they don't want him wrestling Wilcke or Warner since he'll be at 184 later this season. Also maybe don't want to have him compete at 197 if he's only weighing in at 190ish.
Maybe TnT don't want him to wrestle 97 because it will jeopardize team results is my theory. My theory is that they don't want him wrestling Wilcke or Warner since he'll be at 184 later this season. Also maybe don't want to have him compete at 197 if he's only weighing in at 190ish.
He was an all-American wrestling 197 lbs while only weighing in at 190ish. And why wouldn’t they want those guys wrestling good competition?
Downey is a guy who threatens to wrestle more than he actually wrestles. It’s impressive.
Agreed that I'd much rather see him wrestle. May not have been his decision.
Here's my take on it.. Midlands were only opened to DI wrestlers this year. Downey while a DI guy is technically a club guy. So if the tournament holds true to DI only they would have to say no to PDIII.
If not, the battle is still planet Earth and if there's life out there. GO HAWKS!!
By "the boss", does he mean Brands or God?

This is what I was thinking exactly. psu has Brady Berge at midlands and conveniently he is opposite Kemdog on the top half of the bracket. The Dog will wipe the mat with him but I’m sure that was set up for a collision coarse for the semis... Would be great to see PDII at the scuffle messing things up...Downey to the Scuffle! Would be super genius if they could make that happen.
Is there a difference?By "the boss", does he mean Brands or God?
The Iowa staff isn’t under any obligation to announce whether an incoming athlete, not yet on the Iowa roster, is going to compete at a holiday tournament. No matter what the reason was behind the decision, it should of been made prior to 10 minutes before registration closes.
So, it's still a train wreck waiting to happen.Tom is driving the train. PD will be a Hawk. Bank it

Of course, fans are interested, but that interest wasn’t generated by our coaches, who have said virtually nothing publicly about PDIII being a Hawk. Speculation is fine, but it’s purely a matter of fans’ curiosity.
PDIII probably should have kept a lower profile about possibly competing at Midlands, but I’m sure he’s totally fired up about getting back on the mat, and I don’t necessarily blame him for sharing his enthusiasm.
It’s not our staff’s job to satisfy our every curiosity in a timely fashion. I respect the way they’ve focused on the guys currently in the roster and steered clear of public statements about Pat’s status. Once he’s officially a Hawkeye, I’m sure we’ll get plenty of our questions answered.
relatively speaking he has kept a low profile i think. He grinded out a heck of a semester of classes and wrestled pretty well at a Senior level tourney and seems to be doing what Perry is asking.PD3 keep a low profile? Are we talking about the same person?

Midlands is a set back for fans, but grand scheme probably not so much.
Really the only thing thats been problematic was the PD2 rants on here, which anyone who frequents wrestling forums knew was a ticking time bomb. Remove those posts and its been a good relationship so far.
That all being said, he is on track to get a pretty crappy seed at Big tens relative to his ability. Which will be interesting to watch develop from the lead up to the actual wrestling there.
Its compelling drama to follow to say the least.
so many theories/excuses that don't make sense. My theory is that they don't want him wrestling Wilcke or Warner since he'll be at 184 later this season. Also maybe don't want to have him compete at 197 if he's only weighing in at 190ish.
why wouldn't you have a a rusty wrestler compete? I guess I will have to trust.

PdII is not on the Iowa roster. He could not be banned since he is not part of the Iowa team.I 83% agree with you. Where I am off by 17% is because I think one of the best things that Kirk Ferentz does is bans the use of Twitter by his players (& I can't find a singular example of a Wrestler currently on our roster who makes an ass of themselves or the UI on Twitter). Why are we making an exception?
