@bnicolls ,
Just curious. Will there be
naming rights to the facility (that could help fund the facility)?
it seems that the trend is to now grant
naming rights to practice facilities, at least it is up in Minneapolis / St Paul.
(1) Treasure island Resort and Casino got the naming rights to the Minnesota Wild practice facility; it is called the
"Treasure Island Center."
(2) The Minnesota Timberwolves partnered with the Mayo Clinic; their practice facility is named
"Mayo Clinic Square"
(3) The Minnesota Vikings brand new headquarters and training complex is called the
Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) Performance Center. Everything on the grounds (the main building, the stadium, the Vikings museum, etc) is branded "TCO." And, of course, they are the official orthopedic provider of the Minnesota Vikings.
I have no idea what TCO paid for the naming rights (the terms were never released).
The Vikings, just like Iowa wrestling, outgrew their old training facility.
This was the official announcement of the 20 year agreement:
New Vikings HQ to be named for Twin Cities Orthopedics
By DAVE CAMPBELL
The Minnesota Vikings have secured naming rights for their new headquarters, with local physician group and sports medicine provider Twin Cities Orthopedics.
The Vikings announced a 20-year agreement Tuesday with TCO at the groundbreaking ceremony for the training facility and team offices they'll move into in 2018.
Financial terms weren't disclosed, but the campus will be called the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center. An expandable 6,000-seat venue, one of five outdoor fields, will be named TCO Stadium.
Twin Cities Orthopedics will also construct a full-service center set to open around the same time on the sprawling suburban site, where players can go for MRI tests and consult with orthopedists.
The Vikings long ago outgrew their former space that opened in 1981 in Eden Prairie. Punts hit the ceiling of the indoor practice field, and business staff were scattered among three buildings.
