So who wins the national title?

Seeing as Ohio St just tied Iowa I would think they would like to be included

I am sorry, but I don't think Missouri will finish top 3. How far a very injured Stieber can go will decide whether or not Iowa wins. Minnesota has an outside chance but they need C. Dardanes to hold serve and Ness to take out Green(yet again) and Martinez(gonna be tough). Minnesota also needs another finalist with N. Dardanes, Storley and Schiller all finishing top 3.

I just don't see more than 5 total points between Synon, Lavallee, England and Mellon. 100ish from Waters, Mayes, Houdashelt, Eblen, Miklus and Cox is asking too much in my opinion. They are a great dual team but I think they arent made up as well for a top 33 per weight tournament.

We will see in 2 weeks.

We didn't have a single big ten champ. Not sure how that's likely to change at Nationals. Iowa is going to have to wrestle a heck of a lot better in order to win.

I really don't think Iowa needs a National Champ to win it. In fact, I don't think they need a finalist(or will have one). There just isn't a team(other than MAYBE tOSU) who has a team as well rounded.

With my boy Dziewa showing his stuff I think Iowa has a good chance for 8 AA's. Gilman 3rd, Clark 4th, Dziewa 5th, Sorenson 4th, Kelly(?), Moore(can he do a reverse to his career and wrestle poorly during the season and overperform at NCAA's if he gets a WC?), Evans 4th, Brooks 5th, Burak 5th and Telford 3rd wins it all for Iowa.

With no one looking like a dominant wrestler it wouldn't be a surprise if the Hawks didn't get anyone to the finals.
What will it take for them to win on points without a finalist?

Of course it would be great to get another team title. I just miss the dominance when they had multiple champs on the great teams of the past.

Will be a very tight race with Ohio State and Minny. 100-105 points should win it, and Iowa getting 2 guys to the finals will be the deciding factor, imo. Tough to win without finalists, although it's been done (once).

It hasn't been that long since Minnesota won a team title with no one placing higher than third place. Having ten guys pulling their weight can get the job done. We need Kelly and Moore to get there and score some points to get it done with no finalists.

Iowa has a good shot. As good as any contender. Gilman is right there. The chances of that match going that way next time is small. Gilman was aggressive and made a mistake that he had no plan for. Sorenson, same thing. If he goes back to opening up against T Shirt like he did last time he can pull it out. Telford is also right there. Roll the dice again and there are 3 guys who can do very well. Clark, Bobby and Burak were ok but need to train and wrestle for nationals to wrestle it like there is no tomorrow. Jeva stepped up. Can he again? IF Kelly and Moore get a shot they will have bad draws to start but we will need them to run as deep into consi as they can. Mike has got to wrestle like there are 3 positions in the sport. If he will not shoot, he will not place in top 4. To me, it is in their hands. shake off whatever they are carrying around and get to work.

Ohio State wrestled well but over their head in some weights. Don't see the whole team being as much a factor in the big bracket. They are dangerous but not a clear favorite.

Minni would have to have EVERYTHING go right and it never does. They have the guns but some of the safety's are stuck on so I don't see them all firing.

Mizzo has a number of studs but their lack of true depth will be exposed. Beating Iowa in a tight, shorthanded dual is one thing. Beating Iowa, tOSU, Minni, OSU, PSU, Cornel, OU so on....is another.

Illinois is the spoiler team. I personally don't think they have enough fire power to win the tournament but they are so good, they can screw things up for the contending teams.

Iowa, tOSU, Minni and maybe Mizzo are top contenders. I may be leaving someone out but it truly is in Iowas hands. If they want it bad enough to get over themselves a little and get back to what made them great.

You are definitely generous with Mizzou and conservative with the Hawks in those numbers.

Things working in the Hawks favor are Garrett from Cornell being hurt and not up to form all year and Delgado being out all year and not up to form. Both those things are going to make it easier for Gilman to go deeper into the tourney. That could be big points for the Hawks and I think it may be the difference in winning the title or not winning. 8 5th or 6th place finishers will not do it, but a couple 3rds and and 6 5-6 th placers mat be enough. And if a couple get in the finals, it is all Iowa in St. Louis.

It seems to me that the Hawks have the most bullets and only a couple need to hit their mark for the Hawks to win it all. I also think Cornell is going to get a trophy. (In the vein of full disclosure- I am usually wrong about these things and most other things for that matter)

The situation that applies to Gilman, applies to Waters as well does it not? And Waters will be a higher seed. I like Houdashelt's chances of making the Finals every bit as much as Waters, and Cox I think is a lock.

And I like all 3 of their chances better than anyone from Iowa.

As far as I'm concerned, Mizzou is the favorite, and fOSU right behind. I think Iowa and Minny battle it out for 3rd.

Until Iowa takes it upon themselves to improve their situation at Nationals, I won't believe it until I see it.
