Only meant that in the sense that he wrestled primarily freestyle until he moved to Sem in high school. He’s obviously great at both.
Better get a bag handy for Cardenas, we don't have anything else going on at 157 for next year.

It's cool to see all the former Hawks in coaching roles around the arena. In the last few matches on the couple mats right in front of me, there has been Kemdawg, Ramos, DSJ, Metcalf, and Barry. Spencer has been in the corner also, and he looks like a natural😉
Edit to add: also Ty Eustice, Ned Shuck, Gilman, and Schwab. Didn't see Dresser but he was probably around somewhere. Whole buncha Hawks.

It might be time for Rathjen to head to Grand View next year to finish out his career.
Not sure if sarcasm, but Ben won 5-1. Tied at 1 going into the third, but Ben got a slick TD. Seemed to give him a lot of respect for whatever reason.
What I liked about Miguelito is he continued to fight to get off bottom and he eventually did in the 2nd period plus still had the gas to go in the third. A ton of heart there.
Estrada has really impressed me. Was not super high on him as a prospect, but he's thriving in the Iowa room.

He won Cali 3Xs but just not enough data. Tough bracket with Root, Mantanona and Parco (ironically).
A little sarcasm. Not Ben's best effort but to be fair we got spoiled with Parco, Mikey, PK, Angelo, Arnold and Buchanan lighting up the scoreboard!
Ben didn't seem right in that match, Im sure he'll be fine.
Kind of has me wondering if that’s not the reason Taylor and Gilman are also in attendance!!!
IDK, it seems like Ben "isn't right" for most of his matches against decent competition. Maybe he's just not going to be a dominant heavyweight - which shouldn't be surprising considering how small he looks.
I would assume they are there to coach Sheets, Jersey Robb, Merrill and a few others. And obviously to recruit.
All 8 starters (incl Kennedy) in the semis +2 non-starters (Petersen & Ferrari).
Rhodes, Schriever, Voinovich & Fleshman still alive in consis (3rd-8th).
27 Iowa wrestlers entered, 14 will place.
Of non-starters, I'm most impressed with Ferrari, of course, but beyond him, Petersen & Voinovich. Most disappointed in Rathjen.
Looking forward to some good wrestling tomorrow.

He has time to peak and become an AA, he can place as high as 4th the way I see it.
We just need him to keep improving throughout the season. I think with his skills he'll be fine against most of the competition.
I'm not sure what this means. He seems alright to me. Just a 19-20 year old growing into a Heavyweight frame.
3 non starters if you include Ferrari, right? So can peterson wrestle 125 later this season and be effective or is Cruz our guy.
I was listening to Grace and Ironside, and they were interviewing Josh Schamberger. The Navy team has a chaperone or something that travels with the team. He was talking with Josh before the event and looking at the military flags hanging above the mats. He said they're in the right order, but what can we do about the creases in the Marine flag? Turns out he's a Marine colonel. So Josh takes all the flags down last night and they spend hours steaming them all. Thought that was funny. Josh is great for the sport of wrestling and Iowa City.
