Do you seriously believe that any significant number of the weapons being used illegally come from thefts? Of the 3,400 guns seized in Chicago from 2013 to 2016, nearly a thousand came from a single gun store.
Well I can guarantee you that these teens didnt but then at a gun store.

The people you elect into office, bro.

Same ones who stormed the Capitol with weapons.

That’s a pretty low IQ answer. You are better than that.

Republicans want more guns and less gun control.

This is just the end result.

As to the question of why the original gun owner left his weapon in the car...maybe he wasn't responsible enough to own one?
If I have my firearm in locked case, in a locked car, and someone breaks in and steals my firearm, who broke the law?

Hang them.

Oh I’m not mad. Just pointing out one of the board racists, that’s all.

I’m just glad you’re not attempting to deny being a shitty person this time.

Why would I attempt to spew false information.

African Americans have a culture problem. You disagree?

All? Of course not. If I thought all I WOULD be a racist.

I made a comment about kids with zero fathers in the lives. You disagree?

But a lot of crime is being committed by a minority.

You won't believe me, but I've been robbed at gunpoint in IOWA.

Ever had a gun in your gut?

Guess the race on the two males?

I'll hang up in listen.

I love how this stemmed from me calling you out for a racist joke.

Racist people always attempt to make it sound like their thoughts and feelings are logical.

Edit: Yes, I’ve been held up at gunpoint. And it was a white guy.

I wasn't going to add this because I really don't feel like I need to prove I'm not a racist.

My youngest son who is in middle school has an African American boy in his grade.

He's very overweight and doesn't have a great family life.

I tell my son all the time to be nice to him and that I really like him as a kid.

You want to know what one of my most proud moments is for this son of mine?

Last wrestling season, this boy, who loses 95% of his matches got pinned quickly.

Frustrated and probably embarrassed, he went and sat down and started crying.

Next thing you know, my son came over and sat next to him. Put his arm around him and started talking to him.

I'll never forget that moment for the rest of my life. Never been more proud.

Oh shit, you should have just said this in the first place. You’re totally not a racist. My bad dude.

This is the question. We had access to guns when I was kid....settled shit with our fists :)
There is not one answer to this valid question. In fact, I believe there are many reasons. And, everyone must look beyond their ideologies for the answers. The below ended up being a messy diatribe but I'm not going to spend the time to change it lol...

1. First just because you mentioned 'access'. The number of handguns today is VERY different today than it was when we were kids. Handguns make up a much larger portion than long guns than it did when we were kids. Laws were very different about where and how to "carry" them when we were younger as well. Because of point 2 below, I believe many more handguns are kept in vehicles and end up being stolen by kids controlled by gangs, etc. The types of shootings we're talking about are mostly done using handguns. In Atlanta anyway, stolen handguns. In Atlanta, these gang thugs target pickup trucks with south eastern license plates to break into and steal a gun that they are almost guaranteed is present. When I was a kid, I guarantee you I had almost zero chance of being able to acquire a handgun and I believe the vast majority of kids were the same.
2. Breakdown of a material portion of minority families. Little to no supervision or discipline of the kids allows gangs to gain control of them.
3. Kids without parental guidance to redirect them are influenced by media (music, movies, video games, etc) in such a way that they have no care or understanding the importance of a human life. When a young adult or older hears songs about killing someone who disrespected someone else doesn't really influence them so much. When a 3 year old hears this their entire life I think it can have some impact.
4. Teens to 20'somethings in #2 above, see no other path forward than stealing etc... they are stealing guns.

So if it’s visible in the house through a window and the teens break through his front door and steal the gun, it’s the fault of the gun owner?
With rights come responsibility. You want the ideal in that there are not supposed to be people who do the wrong thing but that will never happen.

Was that gun visible???

Cause that's an issue.
Hahaha, you can't do it. You can't admit that breaking into the car was the crime, stealing another person's property was a crime, because..... guns...

There is all kinds of nice things visible all over the world, we used to teach people not to touch other people's shit.

Oh, so the democrats care about responsibility now? Nice.
Republicans believe in the ideal, democrats in reality. We all live in reality. Your ideal means you leave your doors unlocked, cars running, guns on the sidewalks and nothing bad will happen. That is not reality. If you left a wad of cash on the sidewalk, your anti-christ would be the first to take it.

You are flailing. That's a nice car you have in your garage, you shouldn't have made it so attractive to other people.

Of course breaking into the car was the crime, but we have to deal with the current reality. Are you going to leave $10k on the seat or are you going to take precautions against it getting stolen?

Your ideal is that if guns went away kids that take other people's lives are not going to continue to prey on society.

You have the ideal and reality flipped.

"She shouldn't have been dressed that way."

****ing idiot.

The people who committed the crime are responsibile for the crime.

The four boys who were shot were sitting in front of a vacant house around 2 p.m. Sunday when two 17-year-olds approached them and unleashed a barrage of bullets on them, according to information from Lott and a redacted incident report obtained by USA TODAY.

This is something that needs to change. We need to start naming criminals whether they are minors or not, AND their parents when they do anything that threatens the health and well being of others...including bum rushing convenient stores.

Right. Let's fix their families. Because that's so much easier than restricting their access to guns.

What's your plan? And don't forget - you need to deal with the "outliers".
Tax incentives or zero income tax for married couples or a tiered system for years married and tax breaks.

She SHOULD be able to wear a thong bikini in the middle of the mosh pit and anyone that did anything untoward to her is the criminal. Doesn't mean she shouldn't take precautions because we live in a REAL world and not an IDEAL world. Do you leave your keys in your car? House unlocked at night? We all do things to mitigate against the criminals. Guns should be no different.

That lock on the Door of the car they broke into, that was a clear sign of "you are breaking the law".

What should thr penalty for these 17 year olds that took someone's life be?

You’re reaching. I keep the garage closed and key fob in the house to help mitigate because I know there are criminals who want my nice stuff. Just as I don’t leave my gun on the front porch.

Gun culture sucks.
Tell that to Hollywood. Films like John Wick have grossed over 1 billion dollars world wide.

John Wick: a kill on average every 1 minute and 18 seconds (across its 101-minute runtime).
John Wick: Chapter 2 — a kill on average every 57 seconds (across 122 minutes).
John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum - a kill on average every 1 minute and 23 seconds (across 130 minutes).

Society love to watch people kill, kill, kill.

Children's TV shows contain about 25 violent acts per hour. That means they see about 10,000 violent acts per year. The average child sees 8,000 murders by the end of elementary school and 200,000 acts of violence by age 18.

Back when guns were tools, kids saw Pa shoot a deer and clean it for their supper.

You mean in a locked enclosure? Are there windows on your garage?

Meaning someone can infact see your possessions but would still have to go through the act of breaking the law to get to them?

Exactly

Why don't you take a stab at what senescence these young men should get. This thread will go 10 pages of you boys bitxhing a out guns, what do you think the actual penalty foe thr people who committed the crime should be?

These little bitches would throw up all over themselves if they had to gut a deer and understand the finality of taking something life. We need MORE of that. Life isn't John Wick or a video game.

John Wick should only be viewed by adults; regarding violent acts kids see that pretty terrible and a big reason why the idiot box should be monitored by parents (it won’t)

It also doesn’t help this country is inundated with “ma freedums” people who love and praise their guns before human life. These people are the absolute worst.

But it isn't. I mentioned in another thread my son's school was having issue with kids (3rd and under) playing squid games on the playground. Yup, K-5 through 3rd had kiddos mimicking what they watched on their unchecked Netflix viewing.

I would say that the “thug life” that a huge part of the black culture in music and media have more of an impact than John Wick. How often do we see the videos of the young male with the wad of cash waving the pistol?
