Speculation (rumors) on starter leaving team

But Kirk granted him the transfer which allows him to avoid sitting out next year. I'm just saying, KF didn't need to do that and it certainly wouldn't fit the doghouse narrative being pushed in this thread.

Kirk doesn't need to be vindictive about it either. It's just as easy to let the kid have a second chance as not.

Graduate transfers are different than non-graduate transfer. Because Snyder has received his degree already, he is immediately eligible at other schools (FBS and FCS) without having to receive a granting of the request from the team he is leaving. The player can just go. KF could not force him to sit out a year even if he wanted to (and he doesn't).

People can have their opinions and I'm not saying anybody is wrong. I ****ed up my Senior Year at West High because of drugs in 98 when we won the state title. It has haunted me every football season ever since. Bad dreams, deep regrets etc. Unless he goes on to the NFL and does well every football season will be bittersweet for the rest of his life. For those of you who have never had drug or alcohol problems please believe me it's not as simple as saying yes or no it's so much more complicated than that. I got sent to a juvenile detention center right before the playoffs and Reese Morgan called me in his office and told me how disappointed he was in me and I said "why do you care I don't even really play"? He started crying.

Sounds like players had a say in this according to Pat Hardy on Twitter: Players "took a stand". Somebody mentioned earlier on here that maybe he was with Wirfs and maybe being a bad influence? The timing would make sense. Maybe it had something to do with addiction to pain killers after his knee surgeries? There is definitely something more too this story than just playing time or whatever. No matter what the case, thanks Brandon for your hard work and dedication- we are all human and all made/make mistakes- learn and get better from it and best of luck

Is this the same Bo Bower that was continually roasted by board experts for being too slow......then ran the fastest 40 of our linebackers? The same Bo Bower who is now getting paid by the Denver Broncos?
I'd bet my life that Bower never makes a 53 man roster and Don Shumpert ran a 4.39. Worst starting linebacker of the Ferentz era case closed. Gervase is serviceable by the way. If he starts getting beat deep like he did early on last year then get him out, but he serves a chance. FS and WLB are not comparable positions as far as what you need that player to accomplish.

I Still don't have a clear picture of what happened to make this departure needed but I have high doubt the troubles came from Wirfs incident....as I got word that Snyder would be gone on early Saturday evening...... woke up next AM to read about Wirfs deal early sunday morning. I feel KF and the whole Hawkeye group have huge respect for Snyder as no real concrete reason other than "bad decisions" has came out

Definitely not case closed. He's on an NFL team for God's sake. I think it's "case closed" on all the losers who continually bad mouth him.
What are talking about? You really think a future college football hall of fame coach, an NFL front office, and yourself know better than an HR poster that just admitted he barely played in high school? Come on man, you’re embarrassing yourself.

None of us here on the board have a clear picture of what happened, nor will we likely ever have one, nor really should we unless there was some sort of legal issue involved. Reading between the lines of the press release and what was mentioned in Harty's column, it's likely that Snyder was facing some additional missing of game time and/or the decision to leave the program was a mutual one. Hopefully he can find some peace/happiness with life with a fresh start at SDSU.

Yeah, irrespective of what happened ... it still sucks. I'm willing to bet that the coaches feel that way about it too. It's one of those situations that you hope never arises ... however, when it does, you have to make sure that you still approach it the right way.
