Congratulations to Spencer — most successful wrestler on the US Men’s team this Olympics.
CP asked him what he thought about coaching college in the interview: "I don't know man. Everyone thinks it's like a given for me. But I'm just gonna keep competing, and I'll see where I go from there." I imagine it's hard to think about that too much when you're actively focused on competing over the next few years. Is he that interested in coaching? Will that change in 4 years?
Sounds like 57 kg is going to be tough for him in 4 years. Too bad 61 kg isn’t an Olympic weight. Think he’s too short for 65 kg. Think he’ll try making world teams at 61kg??He has me curious now on how much weight he had to cut. It sounds like a large number.
Spencer said in the flo interview that he does not want the weight moved up from 57, rather he’d prefer a day 2 weight allowance of +2 kgs.Sounds like 57 kg is going to be tough for him in 4 years. A plus 2KG weight allowance for the second day is dreaming in my opinion. That is over 4 pounds. Heck the NCAA only gives a 1 pound allowance per day. I kind of like the idea of making everyone make the same weight the second day. It keeps people a bit more honest about the weight they are going.Spencer said in the flo interview that he does not want the weight moved up from 57, rather he’d prefer a day 2 weight allowance of +2 kgs.
Was probably a mixup of the number and metric (2 lbs or 1kg). Cant imagine he’d think day 2 should be ~4.5 pounds allowanceA plus 2KG weight allowance for the second day is dreaming in my opinion. Ranking series events are +2kg?He didn't slip.
These guys are cutting a ton of weight. There's also precedent for +2kgs as well. Every tournament outside of continentals and worlds is +2kgs.
Is Spencer announcing something big?
If thats the case, would have to think Spencers career as a competitor would be ending shortly, if not immediately, no? Trying to think of the RTC head coaches who compete at the same time.Wow...it definitely sounds like he is.
Someone had mentioned they thought Dennis was moving on from the HWC. I passed it off as internet BS, but is it perhaps happening, and Spencer is taking over?
David Taylor competed before the season started as head coach of a D-1 program. If thats the case, would have to think Spencers career as a competitor would be ending shortly, if not immediately, no? Trying to think of the RTC head coaches who compete at the same time.
It was announced just the other day he’s competing in the very near future so it doesn’t seem like he’s stepping away from competition. Certainly not immediately. If thats the case, would have to think Spencers career as a competitor would be ending shortly, if not immediately, no?
