Spencer Lee is coming to town

Thanks Todd for the info. Great news!!! Hope he loves what he sees! Would it be against the NCAA rules to honor him for his USA win in front of 40K?!?!;)

This is going to be a very exciting weekend in wrestling and showing recruits how passionate and the amount of people that show up and hope we shine with the win. Then 9-0 football team at 7pm against the Minn with more than a dozen recruits for that game. Hopefully this Saturday turns out to be one of the Best of all time. Can't wait for Saturday to get here.GO HAWKS!!!

Does RECRUITS mean a couple more big names beside Lee or just in general?

HiWillie going to be tough to see who is there with 40K! Throw us a bone brother!!!

I'm sure Spencer Lee and everyone in attendance will have one hell of a day (would be really cool if he were sporting some black and gold, but I presume he'll be wearing something neutral - like camouflage!). Win or lose it will be quite the deal. Of course from an Iowa perspective, a much bigger deal if we are somehow able to pull off the win.

Everyone in the country associated with wrestling already knows Iowa travels better than anybody, and has for 40 years. This event just solidifies that. Point being, having the most fans doesn't insure everyone still wants to come and wrestle in front of large adoring crowds wherever they go. So in that sense, it doesn't change anything, IMO.

I seem to remember an interview with young Mr. Lee about how he wrestled Iowa style and didn't like wrestling the edge of the mat. He said it with such disdain too.

I remember a couple weeks back a respectable poster on here said M* was on recruiting trip out east and they (the poster) said they would be surprised if we didn't get a commitment out of that trip. Now with last commit being a west coast kid maybe we get that east coast commit Saturday?

Other than Spencer Lee, and Broc Berge, which other recruits still currently on the market assuming JRs/SRs would we be looking at and wanting to land?

Actually, I believe that post said he was out west looking for a 174/184/197 recruit...

Bummer Lee wasn't at Super 32 or maybe he went to watch his boy Kaleb Young win the whole friggin thing! The fact that Lee is going and it's being publicized that he's going is a big deal for us I would think. What reason would Spencer allow the media to know about his travel plans? That's a long trip from PA for some shits and giggles. I think this news is a very positive sign for the Hawks! Hope he signs sooner rather than later so this board doesn't cannibalize itself over it anymore. The waiting is the hardest part! Probably would sweeten the deal if the Hawks could get a big win.

Go Hawks!!!!

Between what match does the Spencer Lee chant start? Before 141?

In all seriousness, I think that would be great; probably at intermission. I don't think you can overestimate what that environment can do for, what, a sixteen year old?

I hope they are going after Sammy Colbray.

I think if they landed him we would be sitting very very good. I think even without Lee we are sitting very good from 125-165 for sure. If one of the middle weights like Young or Marinelli can get to 174 we should be good there. If you add Colbray to Wikle and Holloway you really shore up 184/197.

I liked what the Flo guys said about him at whos #1. After losing to Reenan, who is a beast, he wanted to wrestle him again. 2 out of 3.

Was thinking the same thing, art. Could you imagine Kinnick if Spencer walked to center mat with Tom, Terry, and Ryan -- maybe Jody Srittmatter, too -- and announced he was going to be a Hawk? The place might come crumbling down on the spot do to the eruption of the crowd. Wishful thinking, but man, would that be cool.

Question on this. Do you think the Hawks will still be going after Berge due to Luke Troy, Alex M, Kaleb Young? Or does he project at a higher weight than these kids? Does he have the same frame as his brother so that he can go 184/197?

To be fair I don't think Lee has informed the media of his travel plans. I have only read that he is coming on this message board, and not on Flo or IA Wrestle. I guess I am just trying to say he isn't making a big deal on letting people know so I am not expecting a commitment while he's in town.

Lee's a fan and probably wants to see the match.
He has said he won't be signing until next year...still, glad to have him here.

That's probably because he can't sign until next November :D

But I think everyone knows what you are saying. This is a big event and I wouldn't be surprised to hear more big names in attendance.

It matters not...Lee will be a Nittany Lion count on it!!

If Penn State wants spencer lee than he's all theirs. The only reason he would go to Iowa is if penn state for some reason cools on him. Maybe because of his injury.

What's can be as exciting other than spencer? Spill it wille.. Please
Chopper,Knight I'm not aloud to mention names unless told other wise or would be shut off. But I don't see any harm in letting excellent money spending fans know that there will be several big time recruits here and some of our committed kids also. Be patient, I'm sure that the cat will be let out of the bag soon but will not come from me. Sorry for that and hope you all understand but at least you know Spencer won't be the only one. Hopefully they all show and more.

Who's all going to the tailgate at the baseball diamonds? Will any of these recruits be there?
