Tom and Terry. Next question.Who is the best coach for Hall's style?

Hah! I threw you some batting practice there.Tom and Terry. Next question.
I thought the same thing.Regarding Hall yesterday. Did he look off? Almost like he was sick or something. Either that or physical wrestlers seemed to give him trouble. Always an adjustment going from the strength of cadets to juniors, but it was shocking to see.
Hall and Lee end/threadWould you rather have Suriano and Hall...or Lee and Happel... Note: can't have all four. For me it's a must to get Lee. I like Hall a lot but have a bad feeling about not getting him... There Is no inside knowledge just my gut feeling

Suriano and Hall for the crazy hypothetical win
I don't think any these guys they just wrestled are going to be wrestling Folkstyle in the U.S.A. any time soon, so I don't think it matters all that much either way. Lee and Hall are really good at Folkstyle. Hopefully they'll be good at it in Iowa singlets.Did I hear correctly that people on this board were saying Hall is a better recruit(and more important) than Lee?
I think it'll be soon and it will not be Iowa. Just have a feeling it'll be either PSU or tOSU.Yea I'm just bored and really want some good recruiting news.. Anyone know lee's timeline to commit?
Spencer is simply a beast and would look great in any singlet. That said, someone is going to get an absolute gem and there are going to be some disappoinment for any fan base that comes up empty handed!
He seems to be as good as he wants to be and he is on a fast track.
That was quick. Yeah Lee.

Blue and white.
Home state doesn't have much to do with it 50% of the time PSU fans. Before Happy Valley a young David Taylor fell in with Ames, IA.
Oh wait., nobody falls in love with that cowtown. ..they go to the coach who is the best fit for them. Spencer's personality screams for the Brands bros and the just the same as David Taylor was a perfect fit for Cael. Could you imagine Taylor wrestling for Brands or Metcalf for Cael?
What's meant to be is meant to be. You guys will be fine but I can promise you PSU fans you are not winning this recruiting battle. Mark it down.
Hopefully Kemerer and Young can do some teammate recruiting!

Its not like he wont have some friends in Iowa city waiting either. Kem, Kaleb, Nelson Brands etc

One thing I think may be good for Iowa is the Lee's are probably not some family that is going to steer their son to stay home for their own selfish reasons. The parents are ex-athletes and will understand their son moving a few hundred miles to find the best training situation.
I have heard that they have been pretty tight lipped about where they are leaning. I also think that is probably good for Iowa. I would not want to be in PA throughout high school if everyone knew I was leaning Iowa.
Also it looks like his current girlfriend is looking at Iowa pretty seriously. I have to imagine that couldn't hurt.
He's on fire!Yep x1 million. The only thing the girlfriend loves more than Iowa city is her boyfriend. They are not breaking up. Marriage would be a safer bet down the road. Same for Marinelli. These aren't your average kids mentally and not your average teenage couples.
I see so many PSU fans running there mouths about Iowa is behind the times and Ohio and PA are the future of wrestling. Well ...no kidding. These staff knew this long back my friend so don't fight it, join it. Why do you think they laid pipelines to Paris Graham and in PA. Because they are just about to heist the 2 best wrestlers in each state. Marinelli & Lee. But guys like Amalone are too dense to see this coming because your too busy high fiving locking up a defensive lightweight from NJ and thinking everyone will tech like Taylor. You can have Suri. Enjoy all that riding time while our new guys are pounding the scoreboards. Heck I was saying I didn't want Manville or Suri way back. Not when you can have Marinelli and Lee.
How many Suriano matches have you seen? He's an animal.Yep x1 million. The only thing the girlfriend loves more than Iowa city is her boyfriend. They are not breaking up. Wow! Unfortunately, I can't say it's been awhile since I've seen such perculiar behavior on here. Hey Spoons and Spooners, can one of you guys just call Spence up and ask him so we can move along?Ihawkd9times is the smartest man alive today! Keep preaching brother!

Ihawkd -- While there may be some kernels of truth in this statement; I think you may have "Jumped the Shark" on this one. We are talking about a 16 year old kid here for goodness sake. Similar to Pico, Spencer is working from a long term plan that includes some pretty impressive short, medium and long range goals. Somehow I have a hard time believing that taking a "walk down the aisle" fits into his short and medium term plans to help him accomplish those goals. As for the long term (post college) plans? Who knows?
As per my previous postings on Spencer's decision making process, I still believe that it is a 2 horse race between Iowa and PSU. Based on recent conversations with the parents of some of his teammates, I believe Spencer and his family will take the better part of the upcoming calendar year to work through this decision process. Focusing solely on his HS folkstyle career, Spencer is 50% of the way through his goals of becoming a 4 year undefeated PA state champ and a 4 year undefeated Ironman champ. For 2 of those years he will also have been a member of the PA team champion as well.
My guess is that his collegiate goals (at a minimum) include being a 4 time undefeated National Champion and to lead his school to 4 consecutive National titles. While I believe that Spencer has the skill and drive to accomplish his individual goals at any D1 school there are only a few schools where he can accomplish the team goals. As a result, I believe he will delay his decision until next summer to fully consider his options. There are still plenty of wild cards yet to play.
For those following the social media and personal lives of HS kids it may be of interest that the special young lady in Spencer's life is a rising HS Senior and a year older than Spencer. Could that be the reason that Willy thinks Spencer will make his decision early? Who knows? I get dizzy just thinking of all of the permutations and conspiracy theories surrounding her college selection process.

I have little doubt that young Mr. Lee and others like him that purportedly really give a damn about the team (I assure you some do not), have certain scenario's in mind that MAY fit that bill.Let me try that again...

However, I'm pretty sure there have been more than a few Iowa wrestlers that were highly sought after that thought they were going to be part of a National Championship Team at some point in their career as well (this last class didn't get there - largely because of this last class itself). As previously stated (many times actually), shit happens on the way to the top of the podium. With that in mind, nothing is a given, up to and including young Mr. Lee not meeting his own individual goals (he wouldn't be the first..............).
The "can't miss" types like Spencer Lee, have to be assuming they are a large part of the puzzle that makes up a National Title team. And under that scenario, I would think the earlier you pull the trigger on your commitment, the easier it is for like-minded individuals of similar caliber to piggy-back on your commitment and join the ranks (of course that's where the money comes in as well). That's why I think wherever he ends up, the earlier he decides may be helpful in his cause to be on a National Championship Team. Of course there are several places where that can indeed occur. And Iowa is certainly one of them.
I guess the 1st thing that has to happen for him is to be able to reach a comfortable 125 lbs in the next 2 years.......................................
Well, at the end of the day these kids will go where they go and nothing I do or say will make any difference in that decision. So I can wait and I'll find time to sleep in the meantime somehow either way.Sloe. I agree with your point that someone like Lee could commit early and potentially give the program he chooses a huge jump start. No question about it. He very easily could choose to decide early just to enable him to move on. That said, I don't see him deciding anything until Hall announces at the earliest.
Like many others, I have posted several times that I believe that it is a 2 horse race between Iowa and PSU. The one possibility that could change this would be a Hall commitment to tOSU and Spencer choosing to join him.
I'm not sure how close Lee and Hall are but they have spent a good bit of time together training for Worlds over the past 3 years. The combined addition of Pletcher (long time Young Guns team mate and training partner) and then Hall would likely put Spencer in a position to potentially shift the balance of power from State College to Columbus.
Also I think Spencer will have no trouble growing into a full size 125. His walking around weight last Folkstyle season was around 119. Depending on whether he red shirts or not he would have 2 to 3 yrs to put on 7 to 10 lbs of productive weight. I also don't think he is done growing.
Ihawk9times, do me a favor and take your keyboard and slap yourself in the face. That is unless you are Spencer Lee's girlfriend's sister and have inside info. Your claims of being certain that Lee and his GF will not break up, and them not being a normal couple shows how idiotic your post are. Lee is 16 years old.Yep x1 million. The only thing the girlfriend loves more than Iowa city is her boyfriend. They are not breaking up. Marriage would be a safer bet down the road. Same for Marinelli.
