That's a strong argument. I'd be curious to know what many of the wrestlers and coaches think.

It's why we have the process we have. The athletes complained about the previous system for years. (it was far too taxing, didn't reward/protect medalists, too long of a process) Zeke changed them. But then they realized that wrestling the winner of the open/previous medalist on the same day was too much of an advantage - voila! Final X.

Coaches and athletes complained about the Final X being too many dates/weekends. Short sighted from a fan/money perspective, but hey, coaches run this sport.

The process needs to be followed for the Olympic Trials as well. I don't understand how we would separate Final X from the Open/WTT for a World championship, but not an Olympic berth.

Yeah he is, maybe he would be completely embarrassed at the results and it would not bode well financially for his “career”! I could understand this so I will also sign a no disclosure agreement if that helps sway him. You would think he would want a shot at this, but Cleary not.

It's a really good perspective. How much did Spencer sacrifice for the team, and how much of that is getting lost on the people who are criticizing him the loudest?

Hindsight being 20/20, knowing that we were bit by the injury bug in 2022 and weren't going to win as a team regardless, it would've been ideal for Spencer to get surgery right away in March 2021, take his redshirt for 2021-2022, and come back for 2022-2023 fully healthy and dominate his way to his 4th title. But there's no way to know that, especially considering we were returning the entire team that had just won the team title and looked to be easy favorites to win again. I'm not second guessing his decision, just wishing something would have played out differently

Not trolling. Hawk fan just realistic and watching since mid 70s. Its reality for several reasons. Anyone that considers him goat doesnt know the sport or history well.

As far as NCAA greats, hell theres this list plus atleast 10 PSU wrestlers in last 11 yrs ahead of SL not to mention other schools greats. He may fall somewhere between 40-50.

Come on man….thats like every dad with daddy goggles. Also that continued praise is what put distance between SL and rest of team. Also between this propaganda by TB and his dad and others crowning him unjustified put the pressure on him he couldn't handle nor could most.

Btw i may put desantos ahead of him. Tougher weight, always showed up, always in shape, no excuses, beat lee in HS and probably beat him up in room on those rare days SL got on the mat.
