lol. the 'notoriety' of beating someone in an IQ test that, until recently had an avatar of a guy with pencils up his nose?

let's just do the thing that Billy Madison and the creepy guy did. academic decathalon or whatever.

Do I sense deflection? Weren't you the one that specifically called out someone else's IQ? But, you don't like a test that actually determines it?

First off, do not insult one of the greatest movies that the American film industry ever created.

For someone that lives in a glass house you throw a lot of stones, now man up and back what you spew!

How much better can I make for this guy, tell you what @MSU158, I would like you to be the promoter. I will give @smalls103 2-1 odds my $2000 vs his $1000!

perhaps. but under the system currently in place (which, to me, is reasonable) we know we got the right guys.

there was no fluke loss like pantaleo or sanchez suffered last week. there was no rolling of the ankle like David at Beat the Streets.

i think the best in the country (and world) being insulated is a good thing for Team USA. it's a 'to be the man, you've got to beat the man' format. and the results are proven.

to be sure, it's a tough mountain to climb for the contenders. but the guys with a pass to Final X didn't get there by accident; they earned it by being Top 3 on planet earth.
It seems obvious to me also that we would want to protect the proven veterans. How many guys default out of the qualifiers? Do we want the guys who are proven to be successful to risk injury? I think now that the winners of the tourney wrestler the returning medalist a month later than the tourney makes it even more fair. If they have to win the tourney, like the U20 trials , and then wrestles a guy who is sitting, that is very unfair.
Seems like a good system to me.
Yes Smalls - someone is agreeing with you! :)

I would love to hear the logistics of this wager; and please tell me you don't plan on using one of those cheesy online tests. A real IQ test in done in person under the direct supervision of a qualified administrator, covers numerous subject areas, takes hours to complete and costs several hundred dollars.

I would be open to any options, maybe we can get a former wrestler who is academic scholar to supervise. To keep costs down I would be open to a simplistic version also.
Let’s get a commitment from the stone thrower and then you can be on the committee that oversees the details.

I would like to add that the title of “greatest mind in wrestling” be up for grabs as well. Pride and money should be at stake. You can’t self appoint yourself greatest mind in wrestling without ever having to defend the title.

As @smalls103 is a public figure, it would seem only equitable that @Grip220's true identity be known and verified as a condition of the contest. Else he might pay to have a ringer, like @el dub, sit in for him. After all this is the Cesspool where men and women may not always behave with the utmost integrity.

I like where you are going with this although wrestling knowledge may not count for a large part of an actual IQ test. You are now in charge of the TITLE research committee.

I’d be more interested in seeing the results of a consensual reality test between those two.

If Grip had the 'Greatest Mind in Wrestling' title he'd rank every Hawk recruit Top 10 P4P.

then you guys couldn't say 'PSU only wins b/c they get all the best recruits'.

think this through. lol.

in what alternative HR universe do i live in a glass house? icymi, this is the only place that whines about me. and it has zero effect b/c the rest of the wrestling world knows better.

The current process is, without a doubt, the best system. And the results at Worlds confirms it.

What's your take on how the U23 team is decided?

Personally, now that the Open is THE qualifier for the Sr. World team, I would like to see them separate the U23 team qualifications from the Sr team results. Floating the catch that the "top 3 at Sr. WTT/Open" automatically get offered the U23 spot doesn't really seem necessary to get talent to the Open anymore. Also, kind of takes some shine off of the U23 WTT when a spot is already decided beforehand.

Besides, if a wrestler is good enough to make top 3 at Srs, there's a damn good chance that they would win at U23's anyway. Still, I want to see the U23 trials actually decide the rep(at all weights).

Now I could be convinced to allow anyone that is top 3 at Srs get a pass to a best of three finals, like U20's do.

they don't 'get' a free pass. they earn it by 1) winning the spot the prior year and then going on to 2) medal at the world championships.

i got five bucks says you voted for biden.

There you said it, the prior year. So they didn’t earn shit.

I’ve got ten bucks you couldn’t find your polling place

Nah, the Cesspool is certified to administer IQ tests, no fee. We use a Bayesian scoring system, then divide by 83.

He’s ducking you Grip…… pure and simple
Yeah he is, maybe he would be completely embarrassed at the results and it would not bode well financially for his “career”! I could understand this so I will also sign a no disclosure agreement if that helps sway him. You would think he would want a shot at this, but Cleary not.

I will add this to the double or nothing clause of this competition. @smalls103
I will let him choose the wrestling style of his choice- folk, free or Greco and I will spot him 8 points and choice of top, bottom, neutral or partarre. He can choose any coach he wants in his corner and I will take you @natchrlman as my coach in my corner.
Edit - as one of our fine members pointed out I would only spot him 6 points in Greco as the technical superiority is only eight points in Greco.

Uncle Fester, classic! Reminds me of the three stooges. Nothing good on tv anymore
Okay now you’ve crossed the line Grip. Nothing good on tv anymore? Come on man, there’s so much good tv to watch it’s damn near overwhelming. Next you’re gonna be yelling at people to get off your lawn! Haha.

I discovered a thread on our rivals board this past week that had lengthy discussion of the “top five” dramatic series according to posters. It’s crazy how much good tv has been on the airwaves the last 15 years or so.

I’m sure someone could post a link to that thread. There’s a treasure trove of viable options listed there, with some good analysis of each show. I don’t like to give props to those Jack wagons but they did this thread right!
