Public funds strengthen the bond between sports teams and their cities. If you’re a city like Jacksonville, you need the NFL more than the NFL needs you. But being one of 32 NFL cities, the value of having a NFL team far outweighs any costs to the tax payer.I just read the Broncos are exploring sites for a new stadium. Wtf? Seems fine to me.
Now that the team is now owned by the Waltons I’m hopeful there won’t be public financing, but I’m not hopeful.
Public funding of billionaires’ sports stadiums is by far the worst use of taxpayer money I can think of.
