Stanford Outland winner says it all

I like the biased assessment. Northwestern and Oregon were flukes, but yesterday was the real team. It could just as easily be flipped. Iowa can make the same claim. Good teams lose sometimes. Came out flat on big stage, a few broken plays that went long, dug an early hole, all of which threw the game plan off and things snowballed.

Oh wait, I forgot, that narrative only works for the likes of Alabama, etc
This is exactly what happened.

Guys, why do you talk to talk logic to this fluffer? This is obviously a kid that has had very little to celebrate in his miserable existence. Stanford has likely their greatest win in many years, and while I understand the fans want to enjoy it and keep the moment alive, this guzzler comes over to our site to find joy in the misery of our fans instead of the success of his team. And when we don't suffer enough, he twists and stretches the truth to try to squeeze some more out.

His screen name alone "jeebs" should be enough to show you he is trolling. I'm not going to post a link but you can look up "Butt Jeebs" on Urban Dictionary. It wont be to hard to figure out why he replaced Butt with Oak. But I'm sure he is good at it.

King took two dirty shots at our players, one which resulted in the referee giving him a talking. Garnett pretty much summed it up, pretty weak schedule that masked weakness. Even our lone conference loss was against a team that would probably put up 50 against every big 10 team sans msu. Dont get me started on northwestern. Not even the same team.

Watched much football? Referees are talking to various players/coaches throughout games typically. Are you saying that you have any specific insight as to what might have been said to Desmond King?

Garnett would not know the first thing about any other team's schedule. Your transitive 'Oregon is better than any team not named Michigan State' only shows the utter desperation of your argument. Northwestern indeed was the Wildcat team of 2015... the very same Wildcat team that soundly beat Stanford in September. You can try to dispel that fact, deny that it ever occurred and/or make every excuse in the book, but the record will forever show the same result.

Just like Stanford will always be Rose Bowl 2016 champions. Be proud of that accomplishment.

Because good teams lost games sometimes? See Alabama vs ole miss. Think anyone is beating bama again this season..no. Stanford is the 3rd best team in the country.

You mean like a good Iowa team that lost to Stanford? Alabama? No, there is not anyone that thinks there is a team that will be beating the Tide again this season. However, as far as Bama winning or losing, there is at least one more opportunity for that to happen.

No BS here, end of story

Per La Times: Pummeled in Pasadena

Football players often look for motivation in perceived slights during the week leading up to bowl games. For Stanford Outland Trophy winner and future number one NFL pick Josh Garnett, it was a declaration by Iowa cornerback Desmond King, who said he was going to "pancake" Garnett and Stanford is' no big deal'.

There were also comments from other Hawkeyes who said they hadn't heard of McCaffrey until the Heisman Trophy show and that Stanford's offensive line wasn't in the same league as theirs.

"Think they know who McCaffrey is now," Garnett said as he laughed. "They said their Oline and Dline was so good. But yet our D sacked them what ten times and we ( Stanford offensive line ) just ran over them. When you challenge guys like us, you better back it up and they didn't even come close . . . we're the wrong guys to do that to as they found out.
Did King in fact ever even make those comments? I certainly never heard those comments being reported. Or did Garnett just make them up.
"We showed them what Stanford football is all about. Once the whistle blows, there's nowhere to hide on the field and they found that out too. Our coaches said they had some major weaknesses and if we just executed we would score a lot, they were right. It was easy, way easy "

Did King even make the statements that Garnett is quoting? I certainly didn't see them reported anywhere. Or did Garnett just make them up for effect?

This all sounds about right. It's exactly how Stanford fans behaved in person too. They seem completely incapable of winning with grace.

I never heard of him until heismen talk...

Sounds like our guys were over confident, and the lack of preperstion showed.
Whatever preperstion is....I agree, we lacked it. Along with every other word or made up word you can come up with to describe being prepared to play.

yeah i think their coaches fed them some bullcrap because from all the interviews I read and heard, Iowa players were very respectful and complementary of Stanford like they are of every team. He said he hadn't heard of him because they don't watch Pac 12 games because they are on so late. What a huge diss! The guy sounds like an jack***

He was only giving back what Stanford was doing.

Sounds like we had players who got too big for their britches. Keep your yaps shut next time and maybe you won't look like a bunch of clowns.

I think injuries had a lot to do with Iowa's performance, but I also thought they played like they thought they had arrived. For 12 weeks, people outside of Iowa fans have doubted them, pretenders,etc........and that fueled that team. There was an edge, grittiness, etc.......they played with week in and week out. All of a sudden the MSU game happened and everyone was telling them they were wrong, how good they were for 4 weeks before the Rose Bowl. There was no energy on the field in Pasadena from Iowa and certainly were not ready to play a football game, that is for sure.

I find it interesting the correlation between Stanford and Northwestern fans.I had nothing but poor interaction with Stanford and I was being complimentary and non inflammatory.Poor representation was what I observed.Too bad!

Way way way this is our second rose bowl win in four years. You guys are a flash in the pan aided by missing the two best teams in the regular season. Stanford is now a consistent powerhouse. 5 bcs bowls in the last 7 seasons. I get it, it sucks living in Iowa and being made fun of.

I'll never understand why trolls like you try so hard to be such a jackass. Have you been this way since birth or did you slowly become an douchebag as you got older?

Was anything I said in that statement not true?

Stanford is currently a more elite program, but no WAY is Iowa a "flash in the pan" either. In the 15 years under Ferentz: 3 conference/division championships, 3 New Year's Six bowls, a Big Ten and Citrus Bowl (over defending national champs) title in one season, a stretch of 4 consecutive bowls ('02-'05) with either a reigning or eventual national champion (going 2-2), a BCS Orange Bowl victory in 2010, and bowl-eligible in all but one of those years.

Taking it a step further, our last two coaches have given us 5 B1G titles, 8 berths in the New Year's Six bowls, and 2 victories in those elite bowls.

I was willing to defend you, but you are taking it a bit too far.

You don't have anything to do with their success so bragging about it is kind of ridiculous. Stanford has had a nice run the last 5 or so years but don't forget it wasn't long before that that they were bottom feeders in the Pac 12. Stanford won. Good for them. No need to be a jackass about it.

Ya Stanford is real glitzy. Their attitude seems real business like , like you guys will be working for us someday so shut the hell up. Kid just said 'back it up ' and well you saw what happend. Touchdown Stanford !

Haha, I have 2 Stanford grads actually working for my company. Guess it goes both ways.
