Got to sleep on the loss and I am still feeling good about this season. The good news about last night is the mistakes that were made are all easy fixes. Felt like our talent was equal, maybe even a little better than Wisconsin, just had some bonehead plays. Probably need to win out in the west to have a chance at the B1G championship, but I don’t think it’s out of the question. Wisconsin is going to get tripped up a time or two. Good time for a bye week and the team can focus on fixing mistakes and taking it that dork PJ fleck. Go Hawks!

While very frustrating, I felt like we should have won that game. Not in a sour grapes sort of way, but just take the two special teams miscues alone and it flips the game IMO. Our running game looked good. I liked some of the playcalling. Our TE's are elite. Our WR's are better than YAG. Our defense is solid, with the strength being the line. Our Punter and Punt Returner are strong (even with the fumble!). Our kicker is also a stength. The game vs WI last year was just a debacle. We were not a Top 25 caliber team. This year, we can be that type of team.

Areas where we need some rapid improvement if we want to beat Penn State and avoid the proverbial crap loss: Offensive Line needs to be more consistent. Our pass coverage is also spotty at times, giving up some easy long pass plays against wisky. Need to continue to ramp up the WR's.

We will have a good record due to the B1G West contending for the worst Power 5 division, but does that make this a good team? KF has been lucky Iowa is in the B1G West. These past 8 years have been a decline in Iowa Football. The Bowl games have proven this. We win 7 or more games a season because we play Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern, Nebraska and Iowa St every year plus two crap out of conference games every year. I mean there is 6-7 guaranteed wins every year just playing that schedule. Not many other power 5 teams get that luxury.

I do see Wisconsin quite possibly dropping a couple of road games. I don't see us winning at PSU, but I don't think it's out of the question that we win the rest (although admittedly unlikely).

So I do think there's a slim chance to win the West despite the loss. It obviously helps that UW's schedule is quite a bit tougher than ours.

That loss took a lot of wind out of my sails. I though we had stood team , schedule set up nicely. That’s like a 2 game loss. Now I’m afraid just another average season with a loss in a bowl over our head. Hope I’m wrong.

I don’t see us losing to anyone other than PSU. We lost to a good team last night, no shame in that, and every other team we play the rest of the way have flat out EMBARRASING losses.

I think Iowa should still feel good about this season. At a minimum, that defense will keep you in every game on the schedule. Iowa should be favored in every game left on the schedule except for PSU

Agree, we have a really good team. It’s good to know we do have at least a few level headed fans. Felt like we had the better team last night except for a couple of really dumb mistakes.
