Still hurting

06 was way worse, because of the leads and you KNEW Iowa was the better team. Also, it was way worse because in the Iowa City TV market they kept switching away to other games. I remember watching the game, Iowa had a 17 point lead or what ever it was in the 2nd half and they switched off only to come back when NWSt had crept back into the game.

Nearly 7 hrs later and this loss still hurts. This one cuts deeper than the early exit last seasons. Maybe it is the 16 years, but it also feels worse than 06. Only the loss to UNLV may be harder to swallow. This really felt like the team that would get to the Sweet 16 and further.
Should be used to it by now....

No thirst for watching college basketball right now, and here I am sitting in Buffalo until Sunday with second round tournament tickets. Yep, it hurts. My pity party aside, I am sure there are 15 young men who are feeling much worse. Damn Spiders!
Sell em and buy some drugs

Disappointing but at the end of the day it's just college basketball. It's supposed to be entertainment. In the grand scheme of things the game was pretty meaningless to everyone not coaching or playing in the game. People need a little perspective on things and put it in the rear window. Football is less than 6 months away 😉.
I see you put the end of football season in the rear view :)

Why isn’t the pain going away?
Because it felt like this was finally the year we’d get over the hump. Every sign pointed to it - even the favorable draw that we’ve never received before.

In the past 3 years we’ll have sent 4 players to the NBA, and have 0 Sweet 16’s to show for it. That hurts.

the last thing I’ll say, if this wasn’t the year for Fran, when the hell will be? I appreciate what’s he done for this program and making us competitive and entertaining again, but it’s time for us to take the next step and he’s shown time and time again he’s not the guy to get us there.

Because in the tournament, anything can happen. All we can do is continue to get there and hope the shots are falling. Getting a real difference maker at PG would help as well

It takes time to recover from the Lick years, dont’cha know?

And it always seems to happen to Iowa!

Like an idiot I picked the Hawks to the Sweet 16. I knew better, but figured “law of averages.”

TBH, I think that Purdue win masked alot of the underlying true identity of this team. We quickly forgot how few quad 1 wins the team had plus it's not like Iowa steamrolled through the B1G tourney, needing a prayer three pointer to bank in against Indiana.
What was the true identity?

To me its a simple as Iowa was an undersized team with a really weak defender at pg that needed 3s to go in to cancel out those weaknesses.

Usually they were pretty good at hitting 3s until they choked under pressure at the end.

I have moved on. Iwas sad but not very surprised at the outcome of the game.

I attended all of those games.

Then I watched guys like Matt Gatens, McCabe, and Mayday make us fun again… then D Marble, Basabe.. Clemmons, Uthoff, White… it felt like so many bricks had been laid, and this weekend was finally our chance to reap the rewards.
This shit hurt as much as watching us lose to Minnesota by 30+ during the Lick years.

Still the UNLV loss for me, nothing since has stung as bad as that but that's mainly because I was a 13 yr old kid back then. Too old and jaded now to let something like this ruin my day for long. Over it by the time the evening games started. On to the women's game today. Going to be a crappy walk in the cold rain from wherever I find parking but looking forward to it.

Totally agree, just dominated the overall #1 team (UNLV) and then fell apart.

had a bad feeling about yesterday even before the game started. We shot our wad last Sunday. So the outcome yesterday was inevitable.

UNLV Iowa
