Still want more franwich?

Fran got lucky the previous years by having Luka and the Murray brothers. His luck has maybe run out and he has to see it's going to be harder to compete especially with the expansion of the B10. In his defense there's no way he's going to be able to compete with the teams with all the NIL money. He has to know he's going to struggle. We'll see how important his paycheck is to him.

Bluder may have similar issues when CC leaves.

This year has sucked, no doubt about that. But Iowa also has had 4 late second half leads that they have choked away this year--obviously that's a coaching/performance issue to not choke away games, but it also points that Iowa isn't nearly as far away from having a decent year this year. If they had managed to go 2-2 in those games rather than 0-4 they'd be tied for 4th in the conference standings and we'd still be talking about them as a bubble team. Freeman is a great build around piece who's only going to get better--I'm not ready to write them off from being a tournament team again next season. Probably need a guard in the portal, especially if they can't convince Tony to come back. But there's decent pieces--losing Krikke will be a huge net positive for the team IMO.

I basically agree. I really like the young guys. That said, I'm just not sure there's enough there for next year. It's too hard to consistently win when you don't have a consistent scorer. Hoping a different guy steps up every game just ends up with, you win some, you lose some.

As much as I like Perkins and he's a big part of the team this year, I feel like next year we need to sink or swim with the younger guys. Sometimes more of the same just isn't good. If Perkins wants to play another year it might be in his best interests to go into the portal. He might find a team where he plays less but really helps them to be a top team.

TJ Otzelberger is making $2 million/yr after $500K raise. That makes him last place in Big12 and more than $1 million/yr behind Fran. Rutgers Pitziel down at bottom of B1G in pay---he's turned around a historically bad Rutgers program and he's got two 5-star recruits for next year...and his team is trending up at end of season. The point is that there is opportunity to hire younger/lessor named coaches and do a lot better than our 14 year re-tread has done.

TJ took over a team that only had 2 conference wins and got them to sweet16 in single year...that again goes against the Fran narrative that somehow Fran turned around a program that was dead and unreviveable because it had 4 conference wins. Compare TJ's sweet16 1st year and Fran has never in his 28 year career made a sweet16,

Of course the next hire could end up doing worse than Fran's past 14 years. It is equally possible Old Man Fran isn't able to adapt to the NIL/Portal era and is going to do worse than fomer Fran has for past 14 years.

I want what ISU has had in the 2000's....an Elite 8 and a couple sweet16s and and maybe a nice NCAA run this year.

I remember Fran's 2nd and 3rd year team that made an NIT runs and we face teams with newer coachs building programs....We lost to coach Altman's Oregon in Frans 1st NIT...they have since been to final-4. We beat Bennetts UVA in Fran's 2nd NIT....they have since won the national title....we lost to Drew's lor in Fran's 2nd NIT and Baylor has since won at National title. Fran's CEILING is low because he doesn't adapt/improve, has zilch for coaching tree from assistants, his system of no defense/slow dudes is DOA as soon as it hits NCAA tourney.,

Fran Fan's can keep on pumping his 51% B!G winning percentage and worrying about things being awful with next coach while we are trending to awful with Fran. I'm ready to move on...At very least, Iowa should not be extending his contract any more years.

Pikiell or Pitziel as you called him, will make more money than Fran next season. Even though Pikiell/Pitziel has done far less now or even at this point in his career. You seem really up to speed on the Rutgers coach who’s turned around a historically bad Rutgers program even though you don’t even know his name after being there for eight seasons.

More incorrect facts from Logic…. TJ is making $2.5 million/year, which will bump up to $3 mill in five months. The article you looked at was a year old.

Ready for even more incorrect facts from Logic? ‘TJ is the lowest paid coach in the Big12’. Not true either. Johnny Dawkins at UCF and Eilert at WVU make less than TJ.

Nope.

But no matter what, only ~8 guaranteed games left this season. 6 regular season, (at least) 1 BTT game and maybe (at least) 1 NIT game.

Other than the Lickliter years, haven't been as apathetically pleased about the fast-approaching end of a season as I am this one.
