Socialism has always economically failed the average citizen causing the deaths of millions from starvation (while benefiting the power elites), meanwhile capitalism has raised the standard of living for all its citizens. Its funny to me to see socialists/Dem promote a failed ideology based on an emotional position as a power grab. I am happy Jeff Bezos made amazon and I love my iphone and computers. I am happy there are people willing to take the financial risk to develop an idea-- because most fail and never make it to market. Only 1 in 20 venture capital projects succeed. (I am in that business.) Name ANY innovation that occurred in a socialist country. They dont. They duplicate. There is no R&D (research and development)--only research and DUPLICATE.
Meanwhile Univ of Alabama freshman QB made 7 figures on NIL money already without ever throwing a touchdown. insane. I hope wrestling will get some of that. should he have to give it to the other players?

Employer side payroll tax is money that you are worth that the company is paying to the government instead of you. It absolutely should be included.
Ask 100 people their tax rate, and I guarantee you none of them put the employer side payroll tax in the calculation. In fact, none probably even know how much that is. I agree that is a tax that is eventually paid by the worker in theory, but it is simply not of the discussion when people are complaining about their high taxes.
And if we’re just using whatever numbers we want when determining marginal tax rates in the US we should also include health insurance premiums (both employer and employee paid) as part of the US individual marginal tax rate. Since of course that is a tax that Americans are paying to insurance companies that Swede’s don’t have. Let’s also add our deductibles to that number as well. How’s the marginal tax rate compare now?

You are all about making a point, just not very good at it. If you are going to use insurance as an example why not use food costs or any necessity. Point is trying to defend socialism you need to use theory a lot because that’s the only thing that remotely shows it has any plus sides.
Because the price of health care is a real expense in US deducted (taxed) from paycheck. And this discussion concerns comparisons on tax schedules, not cost of living expenses in general.

Try asking someone like a nanny and the family looking to hire her about this -- I guarantee this is discussed regarding whether or not she should be paid on the books, because the impact to the nanny becomes quite obvious when you actually calculate the overall cost to the employer.
In any event, your argument can't possibly be "the average Joe doesn't think about it so it doesn't count!" People don't consider opportunity cost when they think about the cost of a college degree, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I was responding to Armbar who said he knows people on Scandinavia that complain about their 75% tax rates. First off there is no 75% tax rate and to even get somewhat close to that you have to factor in employer side payroll which I know no one would be factoring into their complaint.
Are Minnesota, New York and California part of Scandanavia now? Guess I gotta get out more. An Hombre can get reel smart reading the brilliance on display in these here parts!

this is a stupid narcissistic position. Your contribution to payroll tax is 3.5% in US. EVERYONE WOULD ACCOUNT FOR IT IF IT WAS 31% like in Sweden.
Accounting is hard for moronic socialists because it is other peoples money. Add the 25% VAT tax to the 70% marginal income tax for Sweden. Dont forget to include property tax, intangible tax and the 31% payroll tax.

Sounds like it's 70+25+31=126% + a few other taxes at unspecified rates, so you basically just take home nothing apparently and actually technically have to pay the government for the luxury of having the ability to work
