Texas Tech

No you are an excuse maker for why Iowa B-ball has been mediocre since 1987.
Gonzaga is in Spokane, which is 4hr 18min drive from Seattle. The coach goes over the globe to get studs.

Lubbock sucks in its own right. The Mooney kid that transferred from Dakota is from Illinois.. Iowa City is in driving distance to Chicago, St. Louis, and Minneapolis. Iowa Athletic Budget towers over both schools. It is about prioritization...Barta and FRan together get you .500 in B1G

What you have in Texas Tech and Gonzaga are examples of superior coaching making the programs elite.
Looks like we just disagree. So all of the coaches and ADs at Iowa for the past 50 years must just not understand sports as well as you do. BTW, what do you do for a living?

;)

Except the B12 POY who is a Soph and likely top 5 draft choice, went to HS in Lubbock. His name is Culver. The largest Tech alumni base is DFW.

He was like the #300 recruit. Sometimes you strike gold on a fringe prospect and that's what happened with Culver.

I am pretty sure the Des Moines metro area is bigger than (maybe 100k or so)the Spokane,MSA, ( I just checked yes, DSM bigger) and one good player from Lubbock ( Culver #23, who really sucked in the final four, cost them the game vs UVA by not guarding anyone and shooting like crap) means next to nothing.

I'd take a 400 mile circle around Iowa City over a 300 mile circle around miserable, poor, dusty Lubbock TX any day as a recruiter. Any AD has to pay massive $$$, or get an up an coming coach to get anyone to take that TT job.

I have spent time working around Amarillo and Lubbock and the regular working people are great, but the geography is just awful.

Considering that DFW is within 400 miles of Lubbock, it is clear that you don't know squat. Tech's largest alumni base is DFW with 8 million population.

400 miles away in Texas is like 120 in most states. I take it you're a TT fan?

I root for Tech most of the time when they are playing.
