That Des Moines Register article about Fran not being at his job duties for the presser was odd

I get he was trying to write about how Fran is a father too but damn.

Lots of fathers would like to do stuff with their kids on a snow day but they have job responsibilities.

And was Margaret so busy that she couldn’t pick up Jack or whatever??

Very strange article & strange he decided that was ok to do.

He really doesn’t care anymore at all. Since it was decided he was done before the season started.

I haven't read the article, but what you seem to be inferring is that Fran didn't show for a presser because he had to pick up Jack on a snow day?

Neither Margaret or somebody else (friend, neighbor, etc) couldn't do it so he could do the duties pertaining to his job?

That does seem a bit suss.

Yeah. I kind of skimmed the article but apparently he did his Tuesday morning presser from his car.

Why write an article about it then?

Jack is a senior, correct?

He has to write something and those press conferences are never interesting. It's an unique angle and an attempt to humanize the guy who is currently under fire from most of the fanbase. It's fine.

Also "not at his job duties" is such a dramatic reading of that by the OP lmao. It was a zoom press conference and he was a couple minutes late and logged in from his phone instead of the computer.

Nah, nothing dramatic.

It’s facts. That’s what happened.

JFC, Family comes first before you aholes.

Another false BS narrative.

He was a few minutes late and did it from his car.

Sorry, but my wife Margaret was tied up looking at real estate in Indy.

It used to be called "human interest", but now nobody really has interest in the humanity side, so it's weird

Him playing His Sons who are on the Leadership board of the bricklayer Union ahead of the Murrays should have gotten Him terminated back then if the Iowa Administration, Fanbase and Media were not full of self loathing Simps
Ironically, one set of brothers were 4-9 from three while the other set of brothers were 0-8 in Iowa's most recent post season failure.

So Cmac was 0 for 2 from three and we are just going to give him credit? Lebron James and I scored a combined 40 points for the Lakers last night. 🤷‍♂️

The reporter (Tachman) is a young beat writer who is learning from Leistikow how to write positive stories no matter how bad a season the team is having.

Chad is definitely pushing hard on his “keep Fran” agenda.
My take is that some of the media guys know (or suspect) that Fran is going to be done after this season, and some of this reporting is simply a way to show some grace to Fran, allowing him a chance to walk away on good terms.

Or maybe it’s just a Rorschach test, and I’m seeing what I want to see.

Yes this has been my read too. Everyone knows it's most likely almost over and so the coverage has shifted to being more of a eulogy for Fran and his tenure here.

And again, these guys have to write stories after all of these press conferences and nothing interesting ever happens in them. I think he saw it as a nice story hook and a unique perspective on Fran, especially at a moment when he's not the most popular guy with the fan base.

0-2 in 23 minutes is less detrimental to the team than 0-5 in 16, no? And we are comparing the brothers, so if I didn't include him, that wouldn't be fair. Fran is most harshly judged for his post-season failure, so let's point out where the failure came from. 0-5 from 3 in the last 8 minutes of a 4-point loss.

Awful take. One set of brothers could affect the game in a positive way when their shots weren't falling. The others couldn't.
