The death of tolerance

The decline of America and the values that made this country great began in the '60s.

People used to be considerate of others, by and large, now it is "Me me me...I can do/say/believe whatever I want...and if you disagree, then I am offended and you have to change." You hardly ever even see common courtesy during everyday life anymore...letting someone with 2 items go ahead of you and your cartload at the check out line...holding a door open...not walking down the middle of the aisle in the parking lot while cars are forced to slow down to 2 mph while you refuse to get out of the way.

Having a child out of wedlock was shameful. Now, it is common and accepted.

Being on public relief also used to be shameful. Now, 1/2 the population receives it in some form or another.

Pornography was uncommon, now it is everywhere.

People used to take responsibility for their own actions, now, whenever something bad happens or they don't get what they want, it is someone else's "fault".

I could go on and on. The attitudes and actions of the citizens of this country just keep getting worse and worse. And will continue to do so. It's sad.

60's, hippy JFK's America
70's, moron Carter's America
80's, Bruce Springsteen's America
90's, Clinton's America

Common theme here.
America is the common theme. The only victims here are the folks complaining that their parade was delayed 10 minutes.

These student are demonstrating the very values that made this nation. Look at you arguing for policing and order over liberty and freedom.

I have no idea what exactly happened in Selma. I mean, I know about Selma, but I have never researched it.
That's sad too. Maybe you should take a few classes in school that aren't about counting money. When people forget what freedom requires, its very easy to kill. Convenience is not the same as liberty.

Or the insinuations that not wanting people to infringe on your liberties is being pro-police state.
No that's just holding up a mirror. Let it sink in what you are arguing for. Own the ramifications of your positions.

Because I don't know the exact chain of events at Selma? Dude, seriously? LOL!

I don't know the exact chain of events of a lot of historical dates because I wasn't there. You're too much, dude.

I almost completely disagree with everything else you posted, but this I agree with. I think it is unfortunate that people don't do these thing syou posted.

I do to, and this is kind of my point. There's no reason to be a nuisance. You can protest all you want, but why do you feel the need to stand in the middle of the road and block traffic while you do it? You aren't going to endear anyone to your cause by being a selfish prick.

So you have no problem with a huge portion of the population getting government relief, children born out of wedlock, etc.? Ok.........

No, mostly I disagree that those things are the downfall of society.

I think not opening the door for little old ladies is, in fact, the downfall of our society. ok ..................

That's not how it works if you want to peacefully protest. If you want to have a violent protest, you do what we saw in Mizzou.

Isn't it absolutely astounding that someone who watched the video in the OP can post this claim, and actually believe it?

I can think of a lot of very descriptive, apt words, and violent is nowhere in the conversation.

Curious, is this a serious question?

You can't think of why they, or anyone, would choose this route, as opposed to, say, protesting in an empty parking lot in the country?

This goes directly to the heart of what I said earlier. People are "fine" with protests....as long as they don't have to hear, or see, or read about, or be annoyed by them. You know, the point of a protest.

Violence - noun - the unlawful exercise of physical force or intimidation by the exhibition of such force.

Force - verb - make (someone) do something against their will.

The protesters forced the driver to stop the car and through the unlawful exercise of intimidation, they committed violence.

No one had a problem with them protesting on the campus green, until they started roughing up reporters.

Funny that you posted definitions that completely disagree with your assertions.

As I've posted countless times now. You believe all sit ins are violent, forceful acts of, well, probably terrorism, so are the actions of the Patriot Riders, Rosa Parks, MLKjr, Ghandi, etc. Absurdity defined.

Would it be considered "force" or "violation of liberty" if a group of anti-abortion protesters physically prevented a woman from entering a clinic and made her look at pictures of aborted fetuses for 10 minutes?

Did I miss the witty reply to your question?
