*****The official 2024 Presidential election day and results thread*****

She lost tons of Jewish votes in the Detroit as well. It’s also going to cost them Senate seats.

She needed Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. That was always the path. Shapiro would have done a lot more than Walz to that end.
Even though it's not looking like it's going to matter, the Walz pick isn't being talked about enough. What a colossal mistake.

I'm here. Exhausted but will be up analyzing. Truly disturbing the amount of support this unfit anti American Fascist pos has gotten and what has happened in Florida. Ted Cruz?! Lol pathetic. The night is young still.

We all look forward to your "analysis."

I guess you should worked harder making phone calls and posting on here, on Facebook, on Twitter and on other websites. Clearly, not enough people took your advice & deleted their accounts.

First, nothing is done yet.
Second, if you nevertheless think it is, and your happy, remember your Churchill : in victory, magnanimity.

Third, if you think it is and you’re sad, remember that it’s a big ship and not designed to turn on a dime. And you’ll probably control the house that controls the dimes.

Finally, if you must soul search, remember what I tell my kids: you’ll always be better off being for something rather than merely against something else.

Anyway, America is pretty retarded. Like really retarded. We're at risk to continually elect dangerous morons. Trump is just the start.

Most of our populous is politically stupid, and then plenty of the ones smart enough to know better are compromised by partisan politics.

It'll be OK... Until it isn't. And then idiots will wonder... Where'd that come from?

Now we're left to hope Trump's handlers can contain the authoritarian impulses of a intellectually malformed individual.

Make no mistake... Voting for Trump is a gamble. Republican stuff at the risk injury to our democratic institutions and normalization of behavior that will continue to erode them.
And I think the idiots have been there a while. (Granted, in higher numbers than we used to see -- post WW2 we were actually tough, disciplined, serious, patriotic people, but that's been fading for a while, maybe what they say about good times is true)

But we used to keep idiots out of politics. That's changing. We had a breach in Trump and some of his cronies. Once they're in, they're tough to get rid of because of all of the other idiots that will support them. They're happy to dine on shit
Doritos for dinner. Nascent idiocracy.

While the Democrats haven't had this sort of breach (yet), they're also compromised of idiots that their version of Trump will gain traction.

I don't get why people who make fun of Trump for spewing hate do the exact same thing. You sound like Trump calling people retards and morons.
Context. If Trump was actually making some intelligent observations and used colorful language it's not like I would care. (Granted, I wouldn't say retard as a public candidate for anything, certain amount of decorum is to be expected)

This country truly is in a sad and pathetic state of delusional and misled people and Hispanics voting for the guy who wants to round up their brethern? Welp, FAFO. The ones who wanted this shit show the most will not be doing so well in the very near future. Embarrassing. I'm not even mad. It's truly pathetic.

LOL. Trump is like the king villain but Joe Biden really messed this up by going for a second term when clearly not up for it. He did the right thing stepping down but it was too late and left us with not the right candidate. The party unified around her, plenty of energy, but she clearly did not get crossover vote.

Yep. And when he didn't resign.

There was one possible path with Kamala, and that would have been for Biden to have resigned and Kamala took office. Then she could have immediately reversed Biden's border policy and announced she was getting tough there. Announced and agenda to address crime in the cities. Whatever... Just optics of clearly separating herself from Biden and tacking hard to the center.

But the way it happened was just hopeless.

I have to say that we disagree on certain things, but I commend your commitment to the isolationist extreme. Do you really think the United States should have sat WWII out? Yeah, yeah, Lend-Lease and all that, but FDR got us into the war and not an unprovoked attack on our naval base? Back in the day when Congress actually declared war, FDR was constitutionally obligated to carry it out as CINC.
Yes, we would have been better off not having hundreds of thousands of people killed in WW2.
WW1 did us no good, and just set the stage for the even more horrific WW2.
We would have been better off shucking the New Deal horseshit in the 1930s instead of waiting until the 1940s.

FDR was doing everything in his power to get us into war.
With the Atlantic Charter FDR was trying to build support to enter the war in Europe, it failed, public remained against it.
He still had US ships hunting Nazi subs and trading shots with them as early as April 1941, before Japan attacked and Germany declared war.

From Stimson's own diary:

Nov. 7. Cabinet meeting this afternoon. The President opened with telling the story of Lincoln and his Cabinet—how he polled the Cabinet and found them all polling NO and then he said, “The Ayes have it.”

With that he started to have what he said was the first general poll of his Cabinet and it was on the question of the Far East—whether the people would back us up in case we struck at Japan down there and what the tactics should be.

He went around the table—first Hull and then myself, and then around through the whole number and it was unanimous in feeling the country would support us. He said that this time the vote IS unanimous, he feeling the same way. . . .

Nov. 25. General Marshall and I went to the White House, where we were until nearly half past one. At the meeting were Hull, Knox, Marshall, Stark, and myself.

The President brought up the event that we were likely to be attacked, perhaps (as soon as) next Monday, for the Japanese are notorious for making an attack without warning, and the question was what we should do. The question was how we should maneuver them into the position of firing the first shot without allowing too much danger to ourselves. . . .

I’ll sleep the same either way.

Laughable how some get so worked up.

Shapiro would have done a lot more than Walz to that end.

That isn’t necessarily true. He had baggage for which he would have been hammered by the GQP. I don’t remember the specifics but he let the family member of a donor off the hook for a serious felony. Republicans can say they would have responded to him more favorably but he would have been public enemy number one, like every other democrat, had he been the vp choice.

Also, his popularity in PA at the time of the vp selection had dropped off considerably from when he was elected 2 years earlier.

These are people posting on a message board anonymously and often exaggerating, not the president of the most powerful country in the world.

I guess that's the issue, people no longer hold the president to a higher standard than a typical American and they should.

To have your country represented by someone that sounds like a message board poster that's exaggerating is an embarrassment.

You support the administration that imported 15 million unvetted foreigners including murderers and rapists. STFU!

She didn’t pick him because he was Jewish. That killed her in the Blue Wall.

That's where people are missing the point. Many voters like that from Trump. They think he's just one of the guys.

I actually kinda wish they didn't televise all this election results coverage on the networks. Just announce the final tallies after its all said and done. Or else do it on days where I don't work the next one.

But guys like Kornacky wouldn't have a job without Election night, so guess its inevitable.

STFU!!! Donald Trump baby.

Shapiro wins at least Pennsylvania for her. And I know several here thought Walz was a homerun that guy was a terrible pick. More of a popup to first.

Terrible pick. The guy was an absolute drip. The fact they actually thought the guy would appeal to masculine red meat men because he corrected football once just shows how drastically disconnected the effete elitist leaders of the party are from actual working class regular men.

I absolutely LOATH this terminology, but Waltz is the most beta male personality on a major ticket since Dukakis. He won exactly zero votes from the working class normal white guy.

(I am fully aware that he served his country and is very likely far more alpha than many candidates including Trump. But his calculated persona is a pathetic "pick me")
