The old adage, great defense travels; cold shooting doesn't

Iowa's football teams are almost always in games and winning, especially on the road, because of the great defense played.

When the hawk Bball team is off on its shooting and turning the ball over there is not much defense there to save them.

Really, in the 1st 10 minutes jNW had a bunch of easy close in shots. The hawks hardly turned them over. The hawks were not fine at all guarding the arc and they lost their men a lot with too much help defense when it is not needed.

Looking at jNW's games they avg around 60-65 pts a game.

Game summary basically boils down to Iowa 3/24 vs NW 10/20 on 3-pt shots. Both teams were getting open 3s, and only one team was making them.

You can always lean on defense but not on shooting. Iowa’s defense is more inconsistent than bad. Sort of like their shooting. The former is capable of being consistent. The latter is not.

Exactly, when they started missing, it became contagious. It happens. I just hope we come out of it next game.

I’m a big believer in defense and rebounding travel well.

You can be in a strange gym, with a slick orange ball, and not be able to hit water from a boat….but if you play defense and rebound…you always have a good shot.

Partially why I think Frans teams chronically underachieve in the NCAA tourney, then look to blame it on the ball, or the officials, or the gift bags…
