I'm reflecting on how fun this time of the year through March is supposed to be. Here we are though. Iowa MBB is irrelevant, and the product is as bad as I remember. It's really an unfortunate time for the program.

Iowa basketball has been an absolute joke for the last 10 years
I haven't noticed a lot of posts anymore that contort 0.500 B1G ball over 15 years into one of the greatest runs in Iowa B-ball history.
The guy has been mediocre for long time and that alone should have gotten him fired. When it became clear he lacked the ability to ever make an NCAA run even with Garza/Murrays/Weezy, he should never of gotten that extension to 2028. Takes a year of sucking to get everyone on board.
Gary Barta single-handedly killed Iowa basketball with the ridiculous hiring of Todd Lickliter, followed up by AD malfeasance in his horrific mismanagement of the Franwich. Someone should engrave “Murdered Iowa Men’s Basketball” on that muthafvcka’s headstone when the time comes.

Let's be honest, he got pretty lucky with alumni-recruiting the Murrays ...and Garza's development appeared mostly a product of Frank Garza's methods from what I can tell.

Thank goodness Luka had such a great dad and supporter as Frank. Luka is also the epitome of hard work and devotion, as well as an inspiration to young and old.

We actually were competitive in first half AND gave up two 3’s to close it out and still had a lead. The second half was Wisconsin game level ineptness. Not sure how we managed to score 24.
Mediocre is the expectation in Iowa City. The fan base revels in it.

Yet I've seen you say that Fran's recruiting has been better lately due to millions being paid to recruits. Which is it? Is Iowa broke or not?

I don’t have one, he’s not a good recruiter, especially where it matters (Guards). Just interested to see what the apologists have to say when he sucked at recruiting pre-NIL as well. Most of the guys best recruits are legacies.
I'm not an apologist for Fran, but whatever helps you cope with the reality of the last 25 years. The talent gap is huge now for the schools that don't have the funds.
