Basketball is a roller coaster. 8 point lead with 2 minutes left should be good enough but too many mistakes and your opponent can start cutting the lead quickly if the capitalize on those mistakes.

The entire 2nd half, I kept asking...how can Iowa blow this? I said it over and over. Up 8 with 2 mins left, I was still asking myself that question. I came to expect it, and of course it happened. No surprise whatsoever.

It's sad but I said the same thing. "No way we lose this game. It will be close but no way we lose." And then we drop a turd. Absolutely no excuse. None.

me too. I never once thought we were going to win that game, even when we stretched it to 20 in the second half. In all, we did a lot better than I imagined. Fran screwed the pooch on that one.

I think anyone who's watched the Hawks consistently the last 3 years was thinking the same thing. However emotional it may sound to think a team is going to blow a 20 pt lead early in the 2nd half or an 8 point lead with 2 minutes to play, it's BAU for Hawkeye basketball.

Off the top of a lengthy list includes MSU in the BTT 2 years ago and again in the regular season the next year. ISU, Villanova, Wisconsin on the road 2 years ago. This had to be the worst in probably a dozen instances over those past 3 years.
