This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Only if you're a complete moron, that utterly forgot how dependent our own mining and military complex is on foreign sources of mined materials.

You do realize the logic behind that part, right? (Nvr mind, probably not. You've demonstrated rather lacking intellectual skills in this thread)
I'm quite aware of the boilerplate "reason" - also very aware it has zero bearing on Ukraine. Additionally, goes directly against the admins stated position on climate issues. It had no reason to be in that bill under the guise of "aid".
You wanna pass that as a standalone or budget component, I'm 100% behind it. I've always supported the US initiatives for independence in all sectors.

P.s. sweet double quote/reply, on a post not directed at you no less. You sure do take the internet seriously huh?

How does it have "zero bearing on Ukraine"?

It's not an "immediate" fix; but it certainly will ensure there are US-based NATO weapons should Ukraine need them in the future.

And, FWIW, we are offloading a LOT of equipment to Ukraine that will need to be backfilled with new stuff. Which requires metals and metal ores to manufacture.

Because it's not going to Ukraine. Now or in the future. By the time those mines are producing, that conflict will long be over.

Like I said, in a vacuum, I'd support the hell out of the idea. It's a triple win for me: US independence, defense portfolio boost and another tick mark showing this administration's hypocrisy.

Take a stab at the $500M earmarked for US farmers boy wonder....

Bridge supports in Melitopol, damaged by explosion (about 15-20 kg TNT). Russians are already making bypass road.

PS. UKR General Staff claims, during strikes at targets in Melitopol, were inflicted losses to HQ of 58th CAA... It's good if true...

Are they effective against those Iranian drones?
I believe the Patriot is utilized against ballistic and cruise missiles. The Iranian ones are low and slow. Any number of systems can take them out. The Patriot twill give Ukraine a platform to take out the largest Russian munitions which are pounding their infrastructure.
Also, I read last week Russia is running low on Iranian drones.

Multiple articles out in the last few days about Russia leaning on aging stocks of ammunition as they run out of the fresh stuff. It seems that Russia cannot manufacture or purchase enough ammunition, especially precision rounds, fast enough to meet demand. Older ammo can fail to fire, fail to explode on delivery, or at worst explode prematurely and kill / injure the soldiers firing it.

If this is true, why are they essentially committing genocide over their own people? Are they looking to reduce numbers of people in the rural areas? Only people in places like Moscow get to survive?

Russia absolutely sucks at being a country. Also, haven't posted on here in awhile so 2 more dead orcs.

Nailed it. Putin, Stalin, the tsars… None of them got worked up about the masses in the rural areas dying. Keep the cities under control, and the rural areas ignorant.

There’s a powerful message with what we’re doing right now to Russia. We will dispose of you on our timeline, under our rules, even if it takes a few generations to wait for our opportunity to do it. We will wait until you make a catastrophic decision and are stretched to thin to carry it out. I’m sure that there are a couple other countries with delusions of grandeur taking note right now

I think the message is you don’t get to swim in both ends of the geopolitical pool. I know there are cynics - and for sure some personal/corporate pockets are lined with war and amping up the MIC - but you don’t get to play (at least unless covertly and inefficiently) in the free world and reap the bounty and also get to attack the free world for your own acquisition. If you upset the apple cart, especially when the apple cart borders both Russia and NATO countries, you will pay consequences until the apple cart is restored.

Agreed. I think another tangential consequence may have been to shock the Chinese into giving up any ideas of military expansion in the near future, and maybe do they want to even try to catch up? They are watching a country who they considered their equal militarily in terms of weapons and tech be donkey punched by a small country given an overall small amount of largely older NATO country weapons and military strategy with nimble coordinating and ridiculous spy satellite capabilities. You can't even describe it as NATO fighting and beating the shit out of Russia with one arm tied behind their back. It is more like NATO sitting on a recliner watching his 12 year old brown belt son beat up a pudgy 60 year old man who thought he was a tough guy.

God willing after this all geopolitical forces will realize with modern tech, old empire building invasions are coming at high cost and maybe we can all advance to the next age of mankind where war is a laughably stupid thing.

“Of course Russia will lose. Because the whole world is supporting Ukraine. To think that they (the Russians) will win is stupid,” he said. “They thought they would occupy Kyiv in three days. What day is it now [of the war]? 260th? They thought they would come to Ukraine and be met with flowers. But they were told to f*** off and thrown Molotov cocktails at.”
