Thinking out loud, if the attack was from Ukraine it was probably just a F You! to Russia. Like the Allies in WW2, banning attempts to kill Hitler because of his ineptness, Putin with his constant changing of commanders may be someone that Ukraine does not mind being in command. Though he is the cause and the reason the war continues, Ukraine killing him would probably just strengthen the Russian resolve.

This was a symbolic strike. And should cause everyone in Moscow to start beginning to worry things are going badly. They did not try to kill Putler and no way they shot that down to magically land there.

I have legit fears that the Russians will use a tactical nuke in an area they think the Ukrainians are building up forces for an offensive. Especially in an area in which an assault on Crimea can be launched.
