This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

"Russia is transferring part of its warships from annexed Crimea to Abkhazia, according to Vadym Skibitsky, spokesman for the main Ukrainian military intelligence department.

According to Skibitsky, Russia had previously transferred ships to the port of Novorossiysk, but due to its current state the port cannot accommodate the entire Russian fleet, so the Kremlin decided to use the port of Ochamchira in Abkhazia for this purpose.

“The Russians have partially reconstructed the [Ochamchira] port and also deepened the seabed to create a base for their military aviation. However, it will not be a very large base,” Skibitsky claims.

The intelligence official says that the Russians “detected a significant military threat” after Ukraine launched a series of special operations in Crimea.

“They [the Russians] realize that the war has moved to Crimea. Our goal is the complete liberation of occupied Crimea. We will not retreat in this regard. We must destroy the occupation group there,” Skibitsky said."

Something on these numbers.

I looked up Russia's military numbers at the start of the war...this CNN article breaks it down pretty nicely.

It show's Russia with 15,857 Armored Fighting Vehicles. MBT's / APV's.

If the Kyiv independent numbers are to be believed 14,552 have been destroyed.

Have a hard time believing the Kyiv independent numbers are accurate...
Why?

They're bringing WWII surplus stuff into the battlefield

I think this is they guy who had dropped from public view from 2 months, right? Can you imagine the US SecDef, or a cabinet member dropping out of sight for that long? This is the stuff that makes me think China isn't ready to move on Taiwan. Xi is clearly purging people he fears.
You are correct, he was the missing guy. Until reading this I had forgotten there was a purged minister before him. I wonder if these people are trying to stop a war (which makes the most sense to me) or hawks trying to start one over Taiwan. Wonder if it is possible to upset the military enough to make them move against Xi.

"Drones have become increasingly important in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, a point no one can dispute. Ukraine is therefore frequently launching the production of new UAVs capable of more effectively striking Russian forces; this is their latest production run. Let's take a closer look at the technical features of this Vidsich drone.

Representatives from the "Drone Army" have emphasized that one of the advantages of this model is its ability to be stealthy. It is virtually invisible and inaudible in the sky when in operation. The drone has already been tested in combat conditions, and developers have specified that it operates in tandem with reconnaissance drones.

As for its technical specifications, the "Vidsich" has a payload capacity of 3 kilograms, a flight range of up to 40 kilometers, a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and can fly at an altitude of up to 2 kilometers. It is equipped with a brushless electric motor with a power of 1100 watts and has a battery capacity of 2x10,000 mAh per hour.

The drone can be deployed in 15 minutes and is a remotely piloted aircraft with the ability to program flight routes. Additionally, "Vidsich" received NATO codification in 2023, indicating its role in delivering targeted equipment for various missions and command structures. According to the developers, the UAV is part of a larger complex and serves as a tactical strike-type aircraft.

Lastly, it is worth noting that the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has recently approved a decision to simplify the importation of materials required for the production of ammunition and combat components for UAVs."

That "port", is very small. Just eyeballing it on Google Earth, and it looks like at best you could stuff 5-6 ships in the harbor, and only tie up 3 to the piers, assuming you use the pier that is the border for the narrow channel leading into the port. Most of the facilities are for the loading of coal, so the Russians clearly have lots of infrastructure to create.
How the mighty have fallen. A 30+ ship fleet reduced to hiding in a small port in a breakaway region of Georgia.
