This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Interesting to hear the war rhetoric from Sweden and Poland when so clearly Russia is in no shape or form capable of taking on NATO now. I think it may be to put pressure on folks in military in Russia to take out Putler
Though countries like Germany had let their military lapse into unbelievable states of disrepair.

"What is Germany ranked in the military in 2023?"

While 25th overall, with a PowerIndex score of 0.3881, Global Firepower ranked Germany in the top 20 globally in areas including total aircraft fleet strength, helicopter strength, and its total armored fighting vehicle fleet.Dec 18, 2023

Can Germany Be a Great Military Power Again? - The New York Times

In the event of actual war, military experts say, Germany has enough munitions for maybe two days of fighting. In December, all 18 armored infantry vehicles involved in a live fire exercise broke down, casting doubt on the “very high readiness” of the infantry forces using them.Jun 15, 2023"

It’s a weird feeling reading about the downing of the A-50. I’m glad we took out a major HVA of Russias, but considering I flew on our version the E-3 it is pretty easy to put myself inside that plane and imagining what the crew was going through. Huge black eye for Putin. If you cannot protect your highest value weapons, it does not give your military a lot of confidence in other decisions. Or your civilians and what they call media.

Hearing it was shot down by a Patriot. The Patriots have already shown they can shoot their fighter jets down from long distance away. Am I the only one who did not know they can be used this way. I always thought they were for shooting missiles down and not for targeting planes so far away.

Is there any open confirmation of this?

“Today we produce TNT in three shifts, 24 hours a day,”– said the director of the enterprise, Dominik Savitsky.A similar picture is observed at other enterprises. In particular, the Lucznik plant from #Radom wants to produce 100,000 #rifles per year. Even before the war in Ukraine, such a statement would have sounded like a science fiction story. Today it is supported by significant investments and technological acceleration, the publication notes. In addition, the Huta Stalowa Wola howitzer and armored personnel carrier plant has been instructed to double its supplies in two years."

Come on France-do the right thing.

Ukraine is actively exploring the acquisition of Mirage 2000D fighter jets, according to Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Air Force, who has hinted at the possibility of adding the French fighter-bomber to reinforce the strike capability of its fleet.

In a message shared via Telegram on January 14, 2024, Oleshchuk acknowledged the challenge of mastering new Western aircraft types but expressed confidence in the process.

“Of course, we will not be able to immediately abandon the operation of Soviet aircraft,” the Air Chief of Staff explained. “Alongside the F-16, the MiG-29 will operate in the sky. The combat capabilities of the Su-24M bombers may be strengthened by the Mirage-2000D, and the Su-25 attack aircraft by the A-10 Thunderbolt II.”https://www.aerotime.aero/articles/...-2000d-fighter-transfer-from-french-air-force

Nice. Always good to have a Plan B if the US goes wobbly. It's a capable platform, hundreds built, so there are parts laying around.
