This is pretty cool...lot's of things changing in warfare due to this war.
Ukraine deploying backpack signal-jamming system to render Russian drones useless
A Ukrainian firm has developed a portable signal-jamming device that can defeat Russian drones and is small enough to be carried in a backpack.
The system, which has two protruding antennas, severs the connection between a Russian FPV (first-person view) drone and its operator, causing the drone to fall short of its intended target.
The "anti-drone gun" blocks six different channels of communication, such as GPS.
Russian forces have been saturating the frontline with FPV drones.
They try to jump frequencies in an attempt to prevent their attack drones from being jammed, so the Ukrainians try to cover those frequencies to ensure as few as possible manage to get through to their target.
In one test carried out by the developer, an operator was given a friendly drone to neutralise.
They pointed the device in the direction of the drone, after which it began to wobble in the air before falling to the ground in just a few seconds.
The device has an operating range that can sometimes be as far as 700 metres, although Russian drones are typically being downed around 250 metres from their target.
The device has been miniaturised so it's now man-portable, making it more flexible and more difficult for enemy forces to counter.
