This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

My thought, too. I hope this wasn’t accidentally posted by Andrzej the intern.
Poland is in NATO.

Plus there was the report Russia had heavy armor moving to block anything coming from Poland into western Ukraine. If true either that armor didn't make it or the Poles got through anyway. Doubtful the convoy would have been sent without air cover so it would also mean Russia doesn't own the skies there.

If true this is huge beyond the actual munitions delivered by the Polish convoy. Putin promised a very harsh threat to anyone assisting Ukraine. Major balls by Poland to do this and toss it in Russias face by posting they did it.
Being part of NATO, Poland is like a made man in the mafia. Russia can't attack them because then NATO is duty-bound to defend it, unless they are content starting WW3.

I’m betting the Russians want an easy win in Ukraine and they don’t want WW3. WW3 sort of negates the whole objective.

They don't want street fighting, and the horror show that would expose the international community to. They know if they try to turn Kiev into Grozny, the West is likely to finally intervene. But showing off their ICBMs (which are usually hidden in the woods), and drafting doctors means Putin is likely all in on this.

Considering NATO's readiness, Russian fighters approaching the border are likely to be shot down.

Also, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, etc still either operate Russian Migs and Sukhois or are still able to service them. It's possible they are servicing Ukraine aircraft or actually have aircraft flying deniable combat missions.
