At first I kept seeing the 60 tanker trucks stuck at 60 and wanted more. But perhaps they are out of fuel/stuck and just sitting there and not worth the munitions.
That is interesting though…definitely not as ridiculous as before. Basically “ok just give us Crimea and those two conflict states which we kinda already had and don’t join NATO and we will take our ruined army home with nothing won”

Yep. There have been a couple times I have wondered what I would do if I was younger and had no family and lived in Europe.
Who knows, but from what I have seen and read, they are not going to recover from this. They have been exposed as a total Paper Tiger, a poorly trained and ill equipped air force and army due to corruption and lack of true keeping up with the Jones. And they now are ****ed financially and there is no building it back to where it needs to be to take on NATO. They can, and never could probably for last 50, years win a land war against Europe. All they have is their Nukes. And as I have posted a couple times, the cost of maintaining their arsenal over last 30 years would be in hundreds of billions range, maybe even a trillion or two since most of them were made. They may not even really have near the capacity they saber rattle with.

The autocrats of the world are right now learning a very important lesson in world solidarity when it comes to freedom and sovereignty. If Russia was allowed a hall pass and moral victory it will not only set back democracy severely, but it is also morally wrong. Plus we all know Putin could simply rebuild and do it all over again.
There was no “right time” for this conflict to happen, but now that it is here it has to be seen through to the ultimate demise of Putin and his oligarchs. Which is why I advocate for a no fly zone and escalation. The sooner we get to the part where Russia is totally defeated in Ukraine the better for the Ukrainians who are losing everything and the better for Russians who deserve a new leader.
Capitulating now would be straight out of Chamberlain‘s playbook.
I hear you on the no fly zone but fear it would escalate and a horrible way. And I don’t mean necessarily bringing war to NATO /US - the entire military and Putin all know they would die. I mean I think they would nuke Ukraine under false flag pretense and declare victory.

This is about what I expected Russia's "best offer" to be. They already hold the 3 areas they want but also demand changes to Ukraine constitution (what?) and a guarantee they will not join NATO.
I do wonder if this will gain any traction with Ukraine or if they think they are bleeding Russia badly enough that the war is worth pursuing.

This is my only worry. That Russia declares war on NATO from sanctions and China calculates a benefit of joining. I don’t think that is likely, but there is a chance.
They are doing a most excellent job of demilitarization of their own military.
Looks like another boat to add to tally. I hope I am not wishful thinking but I am sensing a different tone on both sides. I think Russia all the way up to Putin realize as does Ukraine, that Russia can’t win unless it throws and loses almost its entire military at them. They already now will be hard pressed to recover from the hardware (and reputation) lost.
The biggest issue here is Putin. Hopefully he sees this. From all of the theories you read as to why he did this from being insane or vain or not prepared, I think the best theory is he really believed the sunshine his officer yes men were shoveling. The army was corrupt and not at all prepared or trained or equipped for a war against 21st century weapons…and he thought he had one of the best if not best armies in the world.

Everyone, remember that post witht the video of all the Russian people being misled by propaganda saying Ukraine needed to be dealt with bc they're fascists and some of us said that the same thing was happening in the US?
Putin had a 15 year head-start and more control in Russia, but he was well on his way to securing a large swath of propagandized Americans and Western Europeans that drank from the altar of faciscm and authoritarian leadership. Perhaps the one silver lining for the horror in Ukraine is it has massively exposed.
When did Russia attack the US? Do you care about what is happening in Yemen for the past several years?
