This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

CNN is reporting that the Russians have total air superiority, which will probably be decisive. Clarissa Ward is in Kyiv and she doesn’t seem hopeful.

Hope Putin loves Mother Russia enough not to start a nuclear war if he flips out. And hope the military has the common sense not to listen to him if he tells them to launch. I agree with all the pressure being put on him but am also a little paranoid it might push him over the edge.
I’m hoping his next meeting with his generals goes something like this:

This x a million. Based on what the world has seen. The official position of the US government should now be that we will support regime change in Russia. Diplomatically, economically, and militarily if it ever comes to that. Putin must pay at some point. Hopefully by his own people. But the US should do everything in our power to hasten that going forward
I’d bet these conversations are going on through back channels. And, if there’s enough sentiment and support it someone over there would make a move, but I think it would need to get worse for Russia/Putin before someone would have the balls to do it.

I'm not going to post any, but starting to see a lot of video coming out of captured Russian soldiers. Being interrogated, being allowed to call their parents, etc.

Seems like a concerted effort to continue to erode support in Russia.
The video I saw the russian soldier was barely 18 and scared to death. He was told it was training and orders changed to go to war.

I'm only depressed that it's currently unwise for NATO to enter this directly and hammer Russia into oblivion. Then capture Putin and his minions and force them to stand trial for their atrocities against an innocent country. Roll on, Ukraine! Everyone with a heart is with you.
The problem is, the minute capture becomes imminent is when he launches his nukes. It would be nice if we could somehow block that message.

I wonder about their launch protocol. Ours, as we all know, is immensely complex. It involves a lot of fail safes, personnel and procedure. Is Russia's similar?

It’s going to take a lot of time unfortunately. This will turn into a guerilla war. The Ukrainian people don’t deserve this, but it will bleed an already vulnerable Russia.
Yes. And while Russia fights a Guerrilla war, Finland and Sweden can join NATO and Russia cannot legitimately claim they are being threatened. They will be the aggressor that caused it.

Finland has always been a thorn in Russia’s side.

Russia is going to have huge diplomatic problems going forward.

I don’t want to tell anyone how to do their jobs, but I heard a rumor that in Ireland they routinely buried car and tractor parts randomly in fields to make it more difficult to find buried weapons caches with air based metal detectors.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the latest US sanctions are not enough:

" This morning we are defending our country alone, just like yesterday, as the most powerful country in the world looked on from a distance. Russia was hit with sanctions yesterday but these are not enough to get the foreign troops off our soil. Only through solidarity and determination can this be achieved. "

May the force sanctions be with you.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of declaring and enforcing a no-fly zone, and it has to be soon. The only way that Russia can win is to do so quickly, and that would make it extremely difficult.
No-fly zone exactly where? All of Ukraine?

Do we attack Russian tanks as they roll into Kiev? It would look a bit strange flying overhead and doing nothing as Russian tanks roll into Kiev. Can we swat cruise missiles out of the air?

We need to be sure that whatever we do can really help on the ground. Perhaps a clandestine operation to continue arming the resistance is the best way to go. I would be shocked if there aren’t operations going on right now to do that.

One thing the west needs to do now is apply maximum sanctions. Get brutally tough with Germany and Italy. Hang them out to dry publicly, if necessary.

All of Ukraine except the separatist/Crimea areas. Then demand Russia immediately stop offensive, and give them 12 hours to pull out or we start bombing anything still in Ukraine.

No. If anything, bomb anything left in Ukraine. Very ballsy, but do not conduct operations in Russia. There can be no cogent Russian narrative that allows them to claim self defense.
