Having said that, he can bitch all he wants but at the end of the day many countries from NATO are doing a lot for him and his country. $800MM in new weapons plus all of the other millions of dollars of weapons already given to Ukraine, that I'm guessing the US will never get paid for. Weapons gifted from other NATO countries that will likely never be paid for. Sanctions against Russia that are hurting the economies of every NATO country. NATO countries are pitching in significantly, right up to but not across the line of fighting the war themselves. If he keeps badmouthing NATO he runs the risk of losing the sympathy of the people of those countries and losing access to everything that they have given.
You're really going to call what he's doing bitching? He's trying to save a country who's children are literally being bombed in hospitals, theaters, and who's elderly are having their homes bombed on a daily basis because Russia is too chicken shit to actually fight a standard war. He's begging for any help he can get to save his people's lives and is using whatever emotional card he can play to get more results. I have no doubt without his fantastic speech to Congress that we would not have immediately supplied him with the weaponry we've chosen to provide.

That said, I do think it's wise for us to only go so far in this. This is an ideological and symbolic war as much as it is a physical one. If NATO swoops in and beats Russia then Putin gets to just crow about the evil west and how they are Nazi's and chose to fight the beautiful people of Russia and how all Russian's need to rise together as one, blah blah blah. But if Putin's army gets roundly beaten by the Ukranians, then sure he can complain about economic sanctions and weaponry; but he still lost to Ukraine. I think our Generals see that Ukraine can win this as long as we keep them supplied; and that will go much further in destroying Putin's hold than anything else we can do (Along with keeping the likelihood, regardless of however small it is, of nuclear war)

I sincerely hope the USA will take some of the Ukrainian refugees here - unless they want to stay over there and eventually go back to their homes, stepping over burned out Russian tanks and artillery along the way. These folks must be admired for their tenacity, patriotism, smarts, and ingenuity. We can always use newcomers with these attributes.

Maybe bitching isn't the right word, but there's a difference between begging for help like you said and saying that NATO's refusal to establish a no fly zone lets Ukraine know who its friends really are.

He's been doing both up to this point and I understand why because of how horrible the situation is. I'm just saying that in the short-term he can get away with that. But in the long-term he can't. Just because we aren't willing to fire shots at Russians doesn't mean that we aren't significantly backing his country in many other ways. Like I said, the American and European people are significantly backing Ukraine right now and willing to accept the harm to their economies that the sanctions are causing. But that could change in the long run if the rhetoric complaining about our lack of response continues. NATO countries have been significantly responding to this, much more than to the situation in Yemen, or Chechnya, or Myanmar, or Rwanda, or with the Uyghurs, etc.

I’m am sure Zelenskyy is frustrated and hoping NATO would get more directly involved. However, I wonder if Biden and others have asked him to be even more publicly vocal about needing more help to downplay the assistance they are already receiving behind the scenes. IMO is no way NATO assistance is limited to what’s been publicly disclosed.
