This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Some things are different…
Those women would throttle the boys toting the log. Without question. Ass kicking. Slobber knocking. ..
It would be like gym warriors vs. working men. GTFO of the way.

The conventional wisdom is that Vladimir Putin catastrophically miscalculated.

He thought Russian-speaking Ukrainians would welcome his troops. They didn’t. He thought he’d swiftly depose Volodymyr Zelensky’s government. He hasn’t. He thought he’d divide NATO. He’s united it. He thought he had sanction-proofed his economy. He’s wrecked it. He thought the Chinese would help him out. They’re hedging their bets. He thought his modernized military would make mincemeat of Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainians are making mincemeat of his, at least on some fronts.
lol, what friggin' planet is the person, analyzing Putin in that piece, on!?

I think Russia is going to be off my bucket list for places to visit. How depressing your life, ugly your wife, and terrible your food must be to do these terrible things.
And to think my favorite meal is stroganoff

Beef Stroganoff was invented in Odessa............Ukraine!!!

True, but if Russia is able to keep bombing the shit out of cities, displacing millions of civilians and can dig in without giving up ground, they could force Zelensky to the negotiating table and wring concessions he doesn't want to give. That's why it's important that the West begins to supply the type and quantity of arms that would allow the Ukrainians to truly go on the offensive and begin pushing the Russians out of the country.

As noted in that OpEd, there are many in the Western "intelligentsia" that are already clamoring for Ukraine to basically trade territory for peace so things can go back to BAU.
The problem for the Ukrainians is even though they've been outstanding in defense and some limited offenses....

They simply aren't equipped at this point to take back huge chunks of territory.....they're essentially an infantry army at this point(for the most part). Don't have the armor or mechanized forces to exploit holes they make in Russian lines. Basically a slog on foot and the Russians can fill the gaps.

People have been saying the tanks/APC's day is done....still need them to exploit offensive gains rapidly.

Hopefully we start supplying them with those and their tractor army collects enough Russian abandoned vehicles...

"The latest names of fallen colonels follow news that “fearless” Colonel Denis Kurilo was “liquidated” by the Ukrainians, reportedly dying alongside a staggering 1,500-plus soldiers in his brigade.

All were from the 200th Motorised Rifle Brigade based in Pechenga, above the Arctic Circle.

The figure is from respected Ukrainian journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk, a former Moscow correspondent, who disclosed Col. Kurilo’s death.

Col. Kurilo is believed to have led Russia’s bloody assault on Kharkiv.

The 200th rifle brigade were reported in Ukraine as being the first to storm Kharkiv.

“In the battles near Kharkiv, the commander of the 200th separate motorised rifle brigade (military unit 08275, Pechenga), Colonel Denis Kurilo, died,” he posted.

“It was the 200th brigade that suffered the greatest losses during the implementation of the [Russian] ‘special military operation’.

This is where some Migs would help.

I don't play a character on here or have more than one handle, and I generally post my actual thoughts. About the most assholy thing I've done is use the word "poor" as a noun, although in actuality I couldn't care less how much money one makes or what one's standard of living is.
So you're a poor then?

I was there in 85. One of my great sorrows is that I've not felt right about going back since then to show my wife the place, for various reasons relating mostly to the instability of the place. Its sad because it really is a unique culture to experience.
