I don't know because I still don't understand fully Putin's game. My guess is no as he really didn't expect Ukraine to fight back. Had he known the fight he would have been in for I think maybe he doesn't invade, at least not in the way he did. Maybe he slowly pushes his control of the Donbas region and tries to build a land bridge to Crimea but I don't think he tries to take over the country. Now he's got himself stuck with no good way out. Had he truly understood that he'd be in for a real fight then no, I don't think he does that.
Especially if he knew that NATO would be fighting him as well (under a security guarantee).
Seems somewhat like form over substance to me, as the important part is the promise that we will defend them. I don't think we need to park more missiles in Urkraine. I suppose it would be nice to have an airbase in Ukraine...

However, "Most Natives I know would kick European shit to the curb" suggest to me going without "Western" trappings, but that really does not having to do with whether one's shit stinks. We had a neighbor kid a little older than I was in HS. He had an after school job driving a big CO-OP truck. He was driving over a bridge when it collapsed. Fortunately, the truck and bridge went straight down and the truck landed upright. He may have suffered bruises and abrasions but that was it. That kid's hair turned gray shortly after that while he was still in high school. I know it sounds crazy but it really happened.
