This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

I am not a military expert, but no wonder those Russian tanks and armored vehicles go up like torches when hit. Look at all the ammunition stored in the open in that thing!

Military is not the only weapon in war. Economics, utility infrastructure, Corporate/political espionage, propaganda/information manipulation, cyber warfare, even in space there is evidence of various ways to wage war against countries.

Germany accusing Russia of economic attack is a "duh" accusation to me....what do we think the global sanctions against Russia are designed to do? We are currently involved in WW3 with Russia, just the only military being used is in Ukraine.

EDIT Great minds:) Wonder if this is why the Russians are sending the missiles there-to defend their new base. Don't think this can go unchallenged.

Even if Belarus doesn't get involved they pose a problem for Ukraine. Just putting their forces along the border forces Ukraine to put assets along that border, just in case....assets they need to fight the Russians.
I am by no means as well read on this stuff as many, but I do wonder if Belarus invaded whether that would trigger Poland to do something because let's face it, if Ukraine falls, they are on the short list of who's next.

I'd be making loud overtures towards Belarus that if one missile comes from within their border, or if any Russian troops start to mass there that they will take out all military bases with missile strikes. It's a distraction they don't need, but if Belarus really does start to get involved it's going to be hard to keep their people in check.

The amount of mines, unexploded ordnance, and shrapnel in the fields of Ukraine is going to hamper, or altogether stop, farming operation for YEARS. I don't think anyone is going to want to pull a plow through that mess.
i think for now, the silver lining is that is only true of certain areas, and Urkaine is the size of Texas, so there is still quite a bit of undisturbed land.

With the discussion of intense artillery duels, this is what the result looks like. Holy shit.

I'm curious about the crater differences. There are a number of impacts with "splash" cratering around the impact area while others just have a hole. I also understand that the detonation area (impact v aerial burst) have different effects on the terrain. Could also be the effects of mortars v artillery v rockets.
Regardless, this is a great image of the amount of munitions being fired and how difficult it is to have accurate effects with artillery when using "dumb" munitions. Smart munitions are critical when having effects on enemy targets.
When Ukraine is consistently asking for 100,000 rounds, this is a good image of how many are fired in a small area.

It sucks but Russia has been launching missiles with impunity from Belarus. I'm sure Ukraine is worried about giving them a reason to enter the war. This is from back in March.

"The U.S. Department of Defense reported that more than 70 of the 480 missiles fired at Ukraine came from Belarus.

In total, more than 480 missiles have already been fired at Ukraine. Of these, more than 160 have come from the territory of Russia, more than 70 from Belarus, and about 10 from the Black Sea. Most of the missiles are from mobile systems that hit the territory of Ukraine.

"More than 230 missiles were fired from the territory of Ukraine. There are mobile systems. They are being moved inside the country," stressed a senior U.S. Defense Department official.

Also, the U.S. estimates that Putin has invested 90 percent of his prearranged power to invade Ukraine.

"We are seeing heavy bombing of cities to the north and east, i.e., Kiev, Chernigov, and Kharkov. We continue to believe that Russian forces are stalled to the north," added the U.S. DOD spokesman."

Can we all take a moment to reflect how amazing it is that we are nearing July and after Russia has thrown now almost all of it’s entire standing Army, they are now in need of the stuff they sold / gave Belarus. It’s just unbelievable. One non NATO country of 45 million, reinenforced with a hodgepodge of of NATO weapons, and trained well these last 8 years, is winning a war against all of Russia.
