This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

It will turn into a mini Cold War, which Russia will again lose, as Ukraine will get into the EU and be armed to the teeth. Free and prosperous, right next door to backward Russia. Russia still loses.

The problem is that Ukraine and Russia is going to be a hot war and could go on for a while.

If Russia is still demanding that they disarm that means they have no intention of stopping the fighting.

I still say it's time for NATO to bring some of it's military might to bear against Russia.

There is no way we'd need a draft at this point the Ukrainian military has been a match for them.

At the very least air cover and close air support.
Do any of those former eastern block countries have tank buster aircraft? I would imagine so.

There really has been very little political bickering. It's impossible to talk about NATO, US-Russia, US-Europe relations and some of those other issues without discussing the previous administration.

The "bickering" is mostly embarrassed Trump supporters begging that no one bring up how his disastrous policies paved the way for Putin's misguided effort here. Sorry, that isn't "politics" that is just discussing foreign policy vis-a-vis political science.

I'm simply correcting the past 4+ years' narrative that the US was "funding" NATO.
There is/was no "NATO Fund"; some nations were below the 2% agreed number. But even THOSE are now donating weapons and equipment to Ukraine.

People regurgitating Trump talking points are the ones making this "political", IMO.

Fine. Ukraine can be constantly supplied by the West. The Russians cannot stop it.

'Round and 'round we go;). The only country on another country's soil is Russia. Putin's security argument rings hollow. It will begin to ring hollow at home as hyper-inflation, and economic ruin take hold.

I wonder how easy it would be for the US to "give" Drones to Ukraine but have them driven from the US. Anyway those could be used in a way that makes them appear they are Ukranian run? We could end this quickly if we put a few of those into the skies. Those supply chains would be cut off quickly.

As it stands, i think no matter what happens all sanctions must stay in place until Putin is either killed or deposed and handed over for war crimes, especially after the indiscrimate bombing of today.

Zelenskyy likely has Time's "Man of the Year" sewn up.

Aren't we the only ones who have ever utilized Article 5 the mutual defense stipulation, after 9/11? Maybe someone else has recently, Turkey possibly with ISIS?

Anyways, this whole thing started with a manufactured/fake news/BS reason about denazification, and ending genocide and such. Any ideas why they also can't end it on manufactured bull shit claims of victory?

It's not going accordingly to plan for Russia, why not claim victory, they ended denazification, they got Zalensky to to cease the genocide, there was a tremendous victory, etc. Since victory was achieved, they can return to Russia....

Again: the MAGAts on here continue to perpetuate the disinformation that there was some form of "NATO Dues" (exactly what Trump's statement says)

Which is categorically UNTRUE.

So, it is not "political" to factually correct that. And it is rather illuminating that they're getting all pissypants about it being corrected and calling it "political".

Wake The **** Up, folks.

How do you guys feel about Ukraines current position? The thread seems obviously skewed to the positive Ukraine news so I’m not sure what to make of it.
Still believe Russia will take their desired targets. I also think this will turn into Putin’s Afghanistan x10.

Plausible deniability is key:) It would be cool as it appears Ukraine is having success with the drones they got from Turkey.

I think putin knows any result that does not end with him keeping the land is considered a loss.

Honestly, it seems we are only getting one side of the story. As the old phrase goes, there is always 3 sides to a story. However, as someone else said a couple pages ago, Pukin appeared aggitaited and stressed during his last address. I'm not sure that is suck a good thing right now though.

It’s hard to know whats propaganda and what not. But I think everyone can see that Ukraine is fighting harder than anyone expected. Can they prevail? If Russia escalates, which we know they have the capability to do, probably not. But it will be interesting to see if Ukraine can hold out long enough to get some additional military support. Right now, they are all alone fighting a superpower.

I don’t see Russia simply walking away saying, “you got us.” At some point, the gloves come off and it gets bad. Real bad.
