Ferentz might be in good physical shape but his face is looking tired and aging fast. I think he looks older than 69. If an 18 year old is being recruited by Iowa, I would think they might take into consideration that their head coach could be their grandfather and that he might not be around for four more years because of health, retiring, fired. It can't help recruiting.

Convince me I’m wrong. We have an o-line that’s been together for 12 years and is horrible. Secondary has a 30-year old safety who gets trucked constantly. A lot of starters are gone after this season and the schedule gets way ugly.

Unless they hit the portal hard with great success, next year's team is going to be a sub .500 team.

Said it in another thread. Shades of 97’ with this disappointing year pissing our 3rd game down our leg. Next years schedule is nasty. Psu and Oregon at Kinnick. Unless we pull a talented qb from the portal it could be a long year.

In the big 10 it's all about the big guys up front. You can gave Lamar Jackson at qb but if he's running for his life every snap nothing good is going to happen.

But I think Iowa might be a bit better if Lamar Jackson were at QB.

That has been a major issue for most of Ferentz's tenure in Iowa City.

Hayden's last 3 seasons were
'96- 9-3 (bowl win)
'97- 7-5 (bowl loss)
'98- 3-8

I think KFz is on a similar trajectory
'23- 10-4 (bowl loss)
'24- 9-4, 8-5, 7-6 or 6-7 this year (7-5 is right in the middle)
'25- 4-8? 5-7? doesn't look promising, lots of personnel losses.

It's possible that if Kirk sticks around too long, he'll fall behind Hayden in win %.

You’re right. Why seeing usc struggle and why frost was so bad at Nebraska. Never addressed the lines. We’ve lost that edge on the OL and DL was bad in ucla and msu games. Need to get that nasty demeanor back with how guys like gallery and Linderbaum played.
