Iowa-Wisc is an elimination game for Iowa, but not for Wisky. We all know very well that Iowa could win that game and then go on to lose 2 or more conference games while Wisky goes undefeated.
theoretically, that is correct...
we also saw something similar to that happen in 2014 when Wisconsin began Big Ten play with a loss at Northwestern...
Wisconsin went 7-1 that year
and Northwestern finished 3-5
its also possible that a team go 4-5 and win the Big Ten West division...
but realistically...
as was the case the last 3 seasons...
you gotta go undefeated in Division play
2015
Iowa 6-0 in the West Division
2016
Wisconsin 6-0 in the West Division
2017
Wisconsin 6-0 in the West Division
anything can happen.... but you have to be awfully fortunate to lose to a Division Foe... and then turn around and win that Division.
of the 8 Division Winners since Maryland and Rutgers joined the league (2014)
2 of the 8 lost to a Division Foe the same year they won the Division.
(Wisconsin 2014 / Penn State 2016)
thats 25% if you do the math
its possible for sure... but if Iowa beats Wisconsin...
that means we got a pretty good team....
and I like our chances.
