..are they always this annoying? Acting like she's on E or something. Straight trippin'
We had a cat in heat a few years ago. Never before and never again since have I heard an earthly noise that rivaled it. I'm pretty sure the sound emanated from the bowels of hell.

My friends rescued two kittens years ago. They'd hoped to have them slated before the first heat cycle, but the one started early. The vet offered a solution...

A q-tip.

This sounds peculiar, I have lots of q-tips, what do I do with them?

Can't really get much antifreeze on a q-tip though.

Oh, wait... You're really sick!

Your cat is in heat. Q-tips have a phallic shape. Think about it.
Pardon my ignorance on diddling cats, but I don't see how this would solve the problem. My understanding is that male cats have barbs on their penises that stimulate ovulation. Unless and until the female ovulates she is going to remain in heat for several days until the cycle naturally ends. So unless you get pretty rough with the Q-tip I don't see that it would achieve the desired result.

Or was your vet just thinking that it might be kind of fun?

Not my vet, don't have cats, not familiar with the feline penis. I think it was to help take the edge off.
