Small crowd. I love the idea of wrestling over Thanksgiving Break and having it be free for children 18 and under, just wish it would have resulted in a better crowd. I don’t suppose being close to the Iowa / Nebby game helped.

The ref was great. He did a good job of responding to our chants for stalling, like right on cue. If I’m Rider, I would have thought it was my uncle reffing the match.

Brought up the whole “Did you know that ISU is wrestling in Cy Stephens?” to my HS friend and his wife. I’ll spare the detail, but my friend’s wife has been in Stephens Aud and cannot believe that they would wrestle there.

Everyone weighed in and was probably starter. Lee, Murin, Warner, Slaton, Grothus, Kwood.

Stickley looked good on top and had a nice comeback.

Laux won. He’s going to wrestle a lot of low scoring matches.

If Turk doesn’t give up 6 NF, he wins. ;)

SorenEagle looked good.

KemDog’s guy was funky. It was a good win against a quality wrestler.

Young looks small at 165. He also wrestled the #4 guy and lost by 1 point. As a redshirt freshman.

Joey’s working the ‘stach this year.

Bowman looks good wrestling a guy his own weight and not giving up 100 lbs.

During Ca$h’s first period someone yelled (and I’m paraphrasing here) “Cut down to 184 because that is the only whay you’re gong to see the lineup!” Seriously. Taunted by his own fan in the first period. Seemed to work, however as Ca$h looked great. I’m sure he’s working his way down to 184 as we speak.

Vall Jr. asked me who was going to replace Brooks as our favorite “go for broke at all times” Hawkeye and it seemed to be Ca$h. He was aggressive all over and got a first period shove at the end of the first period. Salty… Ca$h also has a tattoo on his chest. We think it’s a gorilla face but the guy in front insists it is a lion. He’s probably correct, but a gorilla is so much cooler. If we can get confirmation on this tattoo, I’d appreciate it.

Stollhouse had a great 90 seconds.

Walk up music:

Turk: <Spaghetti western sound track>

Kemmerer: “Who let the dogs out?” Baha Men

Gunther: “Immigrant song” Led Zepplin

Bowman: “TNT” ACDC

Wilcke: “Shipping up to Boston” Dropkick Murphys

The ticket office made youth night a fiasco. Kids were free, but we were informed that they each still needed a ticket. The only place to get said tickets was the south gate. We arrived a half hour early and had to wait in line for free tickets until half way through the 125 lb match. The kiddos did not get to see any of the pre match activities. Leave it up to our ticket office to screw up a great idea.

Ridiculous, as it had to have been abundantly obvious there weren’t capacity issues. Are there other legal issues? Need a ticket to try and limit liability?

I sat by the tunnel. Aside from the wrestling, my highlight was Tom walking up to PD3 just as the 165'ers were coming out. Tom gave him shit about the way he was dressed, they both laughed.

Just then Young comes out the tunnel with Marinelli in tow as if he is charging out about to wrestle. He stopped at the end of the tunnel, turned around & laughed. No f&$n had on this team.

Same issue. I thought if that was the case that they should've had someone outside the doors with kids tickets only to hand out to people as they are walking in. Also, it was kids day, but nothing for the kids. No herky. No coloring books/Hawkeye stuff kid related, and nothing at half time...kind of a disappointment.

If they didn’t make kids get tickets you would not have a seat designated for them and that would lead to of bunch of kids sitting in someone’s seat. Just needed to have all the windows open. I came in the entrance selling tickets and thought the crowd was gonna much larger than I thought due to the ticket line. Now i know why.

I showed up at 6 pm, went to the south ticket office, waited in line for 10 minutes for 2 tickets (1 youth). Don't blame the ticket office because you didn't plan ahead. It'll be 100-times worse for any of the bigger, more well attended meets.

Yeah what did Stollhouse come out to
Sorry, I didn't get that one but you would think with all the "room insiders" we have on this board that someone could get us the insights on the walk up music and confirmation on the tattoo.

I waited until the Iowa-Nebraska game was over before heading down and the above posters were right. Hell, I've been to near sell out matches in the past that had less of a wait. One of the biggest issues was that the ticket sellers had to punch in card numbers on the keyboard. No scanners...WTF? And, as was mentioned, there should be some kids activities or giveaways. My two year old went to her first meet, and while she was riveted during the first half, needed something to keep engaged later (though she went nuts for the Stoll pin). Thank goodness her older brother entertained her so I could watch. :)

The Iowa Nebraska game was over 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter! ;)

What song did Lugo pick for Stoll?

I didn't catch the walkout song for Stoll for the Rider meet, but I believe his walkout song for the first dual of the season against Iowa Central during the Iowa Duals was "Why Can't We Be Friends". I thought that was a humorous walkout song. Was that the song chosen by Lugo?

"Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin. Damn, Gunther. That's awesome. Some classic rock for the old guys.

Speaking of Lisbon...during Bowman's match, Morning* stood up and Carter Happel took the chair next to Brands and they talked the whole match. I don't recall seeing that in the past.

Carter won a raffle for "sit next to Coach for a match". He was thrilled -- like a kid in a candy store. You should have seen the look on his face when Ryan gave up his seat for him. He was star-struck (pardon the pun).

I should have been there an hour ahead of time with a 4 and 6 year old. Gotcha.

Yeah, I overlooked that a bit, but could’ve made it first-come basis, or more obviously open more ticket windows.

It started with Young being to small at 174# and now he's to small at 165#? Good Grief.
