Thoughts on Kirk and Rules

I think it says a lot about Kirk and his stance that nobody is bigger than the team. I personally love it as there is no bend in the rules even for the stars. I don't know all the details on King but it sounds like it was something small and Kirk still has the leadership to suspend him. I think it shows his true character and I am proud to have him as our coach (A year ago I never thought I'd say that lol)...

Lastly, I don't know all the details out west but if there was even a remote chance one of our players were involved in a sexual abuse, rape, or harassment, they would not being playing today. Go Hawks!!!

Sends a little message to the Bugeaters too. Integrity in a program means something. If Armstrong and Westercamp start and King doesn't, it will be interesting to see if the announcers test the waters on how a program is run. Desmond misses a meeting and the other guys are involved in a rape accusation at their home and are investigated by the police, and the meeting issue involves the suspension. I'll second the OP...I'll take KF any day of the week.

Yea, the recent news out of lincoln definitely adds a layer of interest to this one.

I'd avoid drawing too close a comparison. If a guy misses a meeting, it's probably agreed to by all sides that the guy is guilty. That guilt isn't agreed to with the rape situation.

For all we know KF could've sat King down and said normally wouldn't mind the 3 late min you took but I have this really good troll attempt on the integrity of Debby football.

What if we sit you out just to throw in their face how much class their program lacks. Genius KF genius. Especially since he knows we win either way.

You sure nailed it. smh

I would blame the player who was suspended, not the coach. If a replacement gets burned it's due to the one who broke a team rule.
lol, ok. I don't know what the situation is, so I won't comment further. I just hope this doesn't cost the hawks.

Joker, rules are black and white. Good for Kirk, win or lose, if you don't have integrity you have nothing. Something that has been lost in our degradated society.

An SEC Coach would have just changed the meeting time by 5 minutes and declared that he was actually 2 minutes early.

Care to share with the rest of us what the situation is? Maybe I missed it, but have not seen what he did.

Rumors are he was late to a meeting. While I'd tend to agree that rules are rules, in this case it seems like the team is being punished more than the player. Which I suppose is the intent, that your actions have consequences that can effect others. Well, at Iowa they do.

If that's true, I'm pretty disappointed that Ferentz would sit our best defensive player for that.

No one in this thread has mentioned that it's only a quarter... Not the game, just the first quarter. Everyone has to man up and des has to play balls out once he gets in the game

What an odd punishment. That's going to look really weird on TV. Plus it seems dangerous. Can he still wear a cup?

This plus I bet King knows he messed up and KF punished him just like he would a walk on bench player. Guaranteed the time rallies around it and King comes fired up when he steps on the field and still makes a big impact. KF teaches young men to become better young men, something you don't see elsewhere. Upset if it hurts us but proud he runs a program that doesn't put anyone above the team. Everything is a teachable moment.

You do not know that Kirk would sit kids accused of sexual assault...innocent til guilty....We have no idea the details and it would be wrong to sit them without great evidence or a conviction...he does know for sure what king has done...can not compare...

Respect for Kirk's position. Corey Clement for Badgers was arrested two counts disorderly conduct and I bet he plays
