Throwing a chair, challenge cube and red carded ...

DT has had some impressive international wins in past year, but he is winless against Dake (0-8) and Burroughs, and didn't win the recent WTT vs Cox.

Not trying to troll, but has there ever been a case of a guy being ranked #1 in the world (FLO ranking 6-2-17), who has never shown himself to be the best in his own country?
If the new 10 weights happen, I see no reason why Jordan, Dake, DT, and Cox don't make the team at 75,80,85,90.

I hope you're right, and we're talking Worlds only.
As far as Olympics, the trend seems to be cutting wrestling spots.

For the record I believe they put up the crap about Gilman right away at Midlands. I noticed smalls didn't have anything to say as to why it took so long for Flo to put their bullshit article up.
Anyone who thinks Taylor and Cael received normal coverage for their temper tantrums is a moran. Willie can come on here all he wants with his tin hat accusations. I would have more respect for him and Flo if they would just admit they enjoy playing the St. Cael vs the evil empire card.

Have to admit that opened one eye for me.

Taylor is one of the most overrated wrestlers I can remember. And that doesn't mean he's garbage; he's just really overrated.

I still don't think Taylor has a marquee win in college. I mean seriously, what is his best college win? Tyler Caldwell? Freshman Derek St John?? Against the two really quality guys he wrestled he got crushed. He didn't score a point against Jenkins before getting decked, and he got beat by Dake multiple times.

And on the senior level? You're right, he still hasn't been able to get out of the USA. Heck, at 74kg he wasn't even top 2 in his weight.

Please don't give facts. The PSU posse will be here in 3 2 1 go, to tell us how wrong you are and that they are naming a new planet after the magic man.

It's a good storyline and I guess since they are not in the business of journalism, then they must be in the business of narratives and storylines. They sarcastically go after folks who accuse them of going for "clicks" but isn't that the online business model? To get advertising? They bash the forums for what are usually a very minority opinion but sell it as consensus when they want to go strawman on FRL. Funny thing is though, most of these guys came up or gained their notoriety through the message boards and still react with criticism as if they are on here...even though they hold the boards in disdain.

Let me be clear. I like Willie, always have. He would be a hell of a guy to sit down and have a beer with and talk wrestling. I also like Flo. I don't know how many times I have said it on here. You are correct CH, though, when you say that they shouldn't be congratulated for merely doing their job. It's a baseline expectation that feeds should work during big events and that cameras shouldn't miss the face of College Wrestling throwing a fit in the corner while his guy is kicking rocks and pointing fingers up on the mat.

There are a few foreign studs that would disagree with you. I agree with you to an extent on the college stuff but in freestyle, it is Burroughs, Dake, and J'Den Cox. Two are Olympic medalists while Dake is a four timer and would probably be a world medalist given a shot too.

As for weak college competition, one could say the same thing about Zain. He beat Streebler at 141 but lost the rest of the matches to him. That is really the only other marquee guy that Zain has wrestled. 0-6 vs Pico? Yes, Sorensen is good. Ditto other guys at 49 but unfortunately for Zain, he never had a 2008 Metcalf bracket to make his bones. Something like 7 NCAA champs in that one? Still, Zain has now made a world team beating some tough dudes along the way. Will be f*** to see what he can do in Paris.

Without looking back, I believe the 2008 Metcalf bracket contained 11 former or future NCAA Champions or Runners-Up. That is insane.

Regarding Taylor, I'm not suggesting he's a terrible wrestler, but he is certainly overhyped. Watching him lose to an injured Cox was about as enjoyable match in freestyle as I can remember :)

Are you telling me that they were quick to defend their position even throwing sarcasm in but avoided answering a couple of simple timeline questions? Interesting approach.

Flo brings exposure to wrestling which badly needs it. But c'mon, they're not just a bunch of good old boys sitting around talking wrestling. They are a business that exists to make money (a good thing) through subscriptions and advertising. If they are not talking about 'it' or promoting 'it', then 'it' is not in their best interests. See any conversations or articles on Junior Duals? Of course not, Track Wrestling had the rights.

They avoid the easy questions because a few know their game. It would be fine if they own it.

But then they lose their credibility as a news source for wrestling, which is fine if that's their gameplan, though I'd say they should be up front about it.

ESPN is struggling with this now. They try to be a news source for sports, but they are involved in a massive conflict of interest because they have rights to certain sports, but not others. A pretty clear cut example is how they cover the NBA versus the NHL. People have figured this out, and ESPN is losing its grip and credibility.

Its more than that...ESPN is struggling because they have morphed into social activism and politics instead of just covering sports. If I want that, I have plenty of avenues for it. Instead, sometimes I'd just like to watch sports.

To be clear, I was not suggesting that conflicts of interest and lack of credibility was ESPN's only problem. They have many, one of which you named.
