and it happened - meridith made heil's lungs blow up..
That he did Heil almost could not standup at the end. And he did not do much the whole match is it just me but I can not picture Heil a 2 timer nevermind a 3 timer. Dont get me wrong I give up to him but I cant think of a guy who has won 2 could win a third and just does not impress me much.

Anyone that wins a National Title is an outstanding wrestlers, as a matter of fact, imho, anyone that makes it into the tourny is stud athlete, but you are right, some guys get a little lucky with who their competition is each year and Heil has been blessed with a light road at 41 in comparison to some other weight classes.

He is a great defensive wrestler and (under the old rules) a top notch scrambler that stays cool in close matches. Besides the scrambling he reminds me a lot of BS. Take Zain out of 49 and BS is at minimum a 1 time champ, possibly 2 timer going for 3 this year.

And even better still, put Zain and BS in the field when Metcalf was wrestling and Zain might be still looking to win his first and BS might be struggling to AA. Those were some crazy loaded brackets. Crazy how that works from year to year.

Neo- I don't dispute that at all. It's just crazy that guys like Heil and Nelson have as many titles as Metcalf and David Taylor. Heck, Ramos and Clark with one title are more impressive than those guys.

Of coarse any AA not to mention champ is great but This was my point right place right time. If Dake, Jaggers , Russell , Stieber to name a few past champs is there Heil wins none

YoungGun and Grip - right and right! Crazy how that works out. I am never that lucky. Right place, right time. That explains why Ashton Kutcher is a star and we are sitting here on our key boards in our moms basements in our underwear.........wait, am I the only one in the basement in my underwear? Crap! I'm never that lucky.

Of course, but you could do that at almost any weight. If Nashon or Brewer are still there, Clark doesn't win a title. If Snyder doesn't move up in weight, Cox is only a 1xer and not a 3xer. But, all of this is completely un-provable.

I can think of several wrestlers that were just as unimpressive at times as Heil that win national championships. In fact, you mentioned one of them, Jaggers. Jaggers had to beat the mighty Chris Drouin in the Semis and Ryan Williams in the finals. Heil beat Ashnault and Meredith.

I don't think Heil is the greatest wrestler in the world, but the dude won 55 straight matches and 2 straight NCAA titles. And there has been some very tough competition at 141 the last two years (Meredith, Ashnault, McKenna, Gross, Micah Jordan). He's earned his titles and had as good of competition as the other 41 champs.

I would have to disagree with what you stated in regards to Cory Clarke if he does not have a bum shoulder he beats Brewer and Garrett imo. The other points are all valid.
