Whoa. Not even trying for this year? Seems risky. On what grounds could he be claiming a 6th year?
Very tough year for him. Lost both his sister and his best friend last year.

Yet he wrestled and stayed eligible all year.
Not saying it wasn't an absolutely horrible time for the guy but this doesn't seem like an argument as to why he can't possibly compete this year.
He was never ineligible per ncaa standardsCouldn't the bad grades have come in the second semester, so after the NCAA season making him ineligible for at least the first semester? I'm not a expert on this so I could be way wrong and just throwing it out there.

Give the kid a 6th year. What's the problem?Very possible.
Not sure how that equals deserving a 6th year though.

So no sympathy for the 2 major losses he dealt with over the course of the year? The only reason he decided to forego a northwestern degree was because they were not deeming him eligible per school standards ,his case is that he was still eligible per the ncaa.I hope he gets it but not sure he's got a good case. The fact that he was willing to forego a Northwestern degree for an ASU degree speaks to the importance of wrestling to him, especially since he has already achieved his goal of being NCAA champ.
From what I read on Flo, he had to get a C in a class to stay eligible, and he got a D+. That's on him, and if he can't wrestle another NCAA match as a result, good life lesson learned and not the worst tragedy in life...as he already knows.
But I hope he gets it. Love redemption stories.

That pun was flawless. Still, being a boring wrestler shouldn't have anything to do with him being granted a sixth year.No offense (no pun intended) to the kid but if we wanna grow the sport of wrestling we do not need Jason Tsirtsis around for 6 years. Same goes for BS
Have you ever attended NW? Becoming a national champ while attending NW classes is pretty impressive. Clearly he couldn't do both while dealing with all the other issues. He's a college kid. What on Earth could your problem be with that?Stay at NU. Make grade. Compete. Problem solved.

We don't have to see it. The NCAA has a history of not always being logical. Maybe he'll use whatever argument Micic used with the B1G to not lose a year. I still haven't figured out why the B1G allowed that.I don't see a case for a 6th year.
Very possible.

They didn't kick him out of school. This transfer decision was wrestling motivated. I don't think the NCAA should be giving additional eligibility for such reasons. Not a good precedence.
