Uncle Joe is punching back

You could say that. Until the end.

I'm curious to know what fatty said that made the crowd turn on him like they did.
I replayed that video and cranked up the volume at the end when the crowd turned on the guy in the maroon sweater. He said something about "You don't have a backbone". That's when the crowd jeered.

Edit.... just saw the other post. Sorry this was already addressed.

Why is it "amusing"?
It just is. The folks at SNL thought it was amusing as well.

Joe Biden didn’t help Hunter get the job. Mykola Zlochevsky specifically recruited Hunter.

Ask yourself why, out of the thousands of people in the world who were just as qualified for the position as Hunter was, Zlochevsky specifically recruited the son of the Vice President of the United States.
We already know why. He was trying to demonstrate that his company was cleaning itself up to forestall investigations by Ukrainian officials. High profile hires were made for that purpose. Zlochevsky was also seeking foreign investment. Having well known westerners on the board would give the company credibility - qualified anonymous people do nothing on either front. Biden did bring in lawyers who worked on a deal. The deal fell apart when war broke out.

I don't know, and frankly, I don't care.

You seem to be concerned though. I'll make note of that.
You don’t know. Lol.

In addition to being the head of the largest privately owned energy company in Ukraine, Mykola Zlochevsky was a member of the the Ukrainian government that was overthrown by Euromaidan in February 2014. While he was the Minister of Ecology, Zlochevsky had illegally issued several extraction licenses to his own companies. British officials had seized $23 million of his money on suspicion of illegal money laundering.

The guy was dirty as hell. And when he was drummed out of government he also lost his most important political ally - President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled in exile to Russia.

The United States immediately began aiding the interim Ukrainian government to stabilize its economy and, most importantly, help them achieve energy independence from Russia. Vice President Joe Biden was tasked with heading up the effort.

So in the midst of all that, one of the most corrupt oligarchs in Ukraine specifically hired the son of the Vice President of the United States.

And you have no idea nor do you care why he specifically recruited the son of the Vice President of the United States.

If these events were happening right now instead of 2014 and Zlochevsky hired Mike Pence Jr instead of Hunter Biden, I suspect you would care and could probably even conjure a theory or two.

Are they false claims? Maybe it would be better stated that access is being purchased. Why else would children of the politically powerful get money thrown at them for board positions where they don't have expertise and frankly where there isn't really much work to be done? Wouldn't we all love to have such "job" opportunites? Whether it be a Trump, a Biden, a Kerry, a Clinton or countless other politically powerful families. Of course access is being bought and sold.
Shut up. The president has his kids and in laws working in the white house without security clearance. Eat feces

That is some expert-level sugar coating.

“Cleaning itself up to forestall investigations”. Lol. He was trying to keep his ass out of prison. That’s why he fled the country later that year.

And seeking foreign investment shouldn’t have been a problem, with or without high-profile Westerners. Burisma was already the largest privately-owned energy company in Ukraine and there were billions of dollars to be made after the revolution.

I'd like to hear more about how Biden has been cleared of wrongdoing in Ukraine--not saying he hasn't, but I would like more information on the U.S. position and/or the position of our allies to have the prosecutor fired. That seems like an odd thing for other governments to get involved in and I'd love to learn more about the details.
Trump has pushed the theory that Viktor Shokin was fired, at Joe Biden's behest, because he was investigating Hunter Biden and Burisma. Here are some bullet points from an article in Forbes that spells out what really happened.

  • In May 2014, Hunter Biden took a board seat on Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings. He was reportedly paid $50,000 per month.
  • Burisma had ties to Ukraine’s previous president Viktor Yanukovych, who was ousted from office.
  • As vice president, Joe Biden was tasked with reducing corruption in Ukraine after Yanukovych—eventually charged with “mass killing of civilians”— exiled himself to Crimea amid threats of civil war.
  • The overlap between the vice president and his son raised concerns over a potential conflict of interest. The Obama White House said there was no issue with Hunter Biden’s work, and that no conflict of interest existed.
  • In 2016, and with the support of other world leaders, Joe Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion of U.S. aid unless Ukraine’s leaders fired the country’s top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, for being too soft on corruption—which they did.
  • Before Shokin was fired, he had been conducting an investigation of Burisma, and Hunter Biden allegedly was a subject. But the investigation had been inactive for over a year by the time Joe Biden pushed for Shokin’s ouster.
  • Hunter Biden stepped down from his Burisma board seat in April 2019. He had been offered another term but refused because it could possibly hurt Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

Since then, Trump called on Ukraine's President Zelensky to announce he was re-opening the investigation into Burisma and specifically Hunter Biden or risk Congressionally approved aid. According to testimony at his impeachment hearing, he didn't care if there was anything in the investigation, he just wanted one announced so the appearance was there was wrongdoing. This is what Trump is being impeached for.

He has sent Rudy, Lev Parvas, and Igor something or another, all over Ukraine to look for, or manufacture, evidence of wrongdoing by Biden. They have none. And virtually all Ukraine Anti-Corruption specialists (for lack of a better word, I guess) say they won't find any. because their is none.

In fact, I believe that Rudy is in Ukraine right now, and speculation is that he is meeting Demitry Firtnoyv, a Russian Oligarch, for who knows what.

Hunter Biden has not been (credibly) accused of any criminal wrongdoing by anyone within the DOJ.

It’s frustrating to me that Republicans are doing such a piss poor job of articulating exactly why the Bidens’ actions in Ukraine were so slimy. And in doing so they are making it easy for Democrats to dismiss the issue.

Whether or not Hunter was qualified to sit on the board at Burisma is not at all the issue. The fact that Hunter accepted that position is the issue.

Joe Biden’s reasons for getting Viktor Shokin fired are not the issue. The fact that the guy we replaced him with dropped all charges against a guy that everyone knew was corrupt as hell is the issue.

Can you guys explain why are all Trump supporters either fat f***ing morons or severely mentally ill? Oh wait, that question basically answers itself. Go Joe!

It's wrong and he shouldn't have taken the job. But you're fooling yourself if you don't think Presidential kids aren't recruited all the time to gain access to the ears of powerful people. Jenna Hager Bush at NBC, for example. It was Hunter that did it and he's an adult. More importantly there's ZERO evidence that he did anything illegal or even unethical.

Jesus man, it was just a ****ing joke gif.

You are one angry elf. Lighten the **** up.

Of course he would care bc in politics: People are who they hate.

I'd say there's a really high probability that someone in the Iowa GOP got that man to ask those questions... knowing it would be something aired, nationally.

At this point, you could easily say Biden handled it pretty well. But I can also see conservative media taking some comments out of context to try and make Biden look condescending.
He has every right to be condescending to an idiot. People like that need to be talked down to like the toddlers they are.

Thank you. I've read a lot of that before. I just kind of want to know more about this prosecutor and his being soft on corruption.

Edit: I see that the NY Times article does provide more detail on that. Thanks. Didn't think I could read Times articles without a subscription. Maybe that is the NY Post.

So Joe fires back with body shaming the dude, weird press IMO. Someone please get this clown out of the race.

Good to know you have a problem with body shaming. Looks like trump just lost your vote.

And right on cue..............at 3:10 CST... on Fux News, the Cavuto show, they played a clip of the exchange with Biden and only showed enough of the convo to criticize him without context.

The investigation into Burisma was dormant before Shokin was fired. A year before, to be exact.

You seem to have a problem with H. Biden getting a job for some reason. It wasn't because of his father. and his father didn't get Shokin fired because of him. I just don't know why you have a problem with this, while the Trump family is actively working with Russia and the Saudi's on projects. If you want to investigate something, get on your soapbox and shout for MBS to be investigated for the murder of an American, Jaamal Kashoogi. As well as his links to Trump and Kushner.

You seem dead set to make the bullshit Trump and Giulianni are slinging seem legit. It isn't.

I don't know if it's already been posted, but I want to point out to the cons that only one candidate was rushed to Walter Reed for a medical emergency and then was hidden from the public for the next three days. Think about that the next time you make fun of the shape Joe is in.

As for the first, fine...he was trying to keep his ass out of jail. You sure changed the narrative with that!! I couldn't care less what you want to call it. It doesn't change his rationale one iota. Making his company look good was the motivation. Live with it.

Joe blowing and calling a citizen names is not punching back. It's being out of control
That citizen was peddling nothing more than conspiracy theories and personal insults. He kind of deserved to be called out.

Holy shit. I pointed out that Republicans are doing a piss poor job of articulating the problem and I pointed out that they are fixating on all the wrong talking points. And then you chimed in to refute those same talking points and accuse me of peddling the same shit they’re peddling.

Do you even read?

Russian forces invaded Ukraine in late February 2014, days after Yanukovych was overthrown and weeks before Hunter was brought in board.

So please tell me more about this deal that was brokered by the lawyers Hunter brought in, only to fall apart with the outset of war.

It’s shaping up to be an election between the rational and grounded vs the conspiracy theorists and insane. Sadly for America, it is going to be close.
yes and joe is trying real hard to make trump out to be the rational and grounded one

when joe blows it, like hills did..... can we come back to this thread and point to where he blew it? I think the hairy legs thing was honestly worse

I didn't say anything about brokering a deal. Where did you get that? I said he brought in lawyers who worked on a deal. I'll assume the deal was in progress and that Biden became involved upon his hiring. The deal then fell apart. You're of the opinion that Biden couldn't have participated in a deal that fell apart due to the war in eastern Ukraine? Tell it to CNBC.

According to four sources close to the company, Biden regularly attended Burismas twice annual board meetings all of which were held outside of Ukraine.

A source close to the company said Biden took part in strategic conversations and shared his opinions and experience. In between board meetings, there were constant calls, dialogue, sharing of advice, consideration of different options, the source said. Expansion to other markets was also discussed, the source added.

Another source close to Burisma said Biden assisted with analysis of oil and gas assets the company was considering buying abroad, though a deal didn't go through. The company was considering possible acquisitions in Europe, Kazakhstan and the United States, the source and another person close to Burisma said.

Both sources said that around the time Biden was appointed, Burisma was also looking to secure a financing deal with foreign investment funds, including one in the United States.

Biden helped to find lawyers to work on this process, before it broke down due to the start of the war in east Ukraine
, one of those two sources said. He was a ceremonial figure, that person added.

As usual, I'll tell you to stop before you look dumber...but you never listen.

Kinda funny watching the cons think the Republicans have a "gotcha" moment on Biden. Even if this was a shaming comment from Joe...from the Trump history we know these moments don't last very long. Look only as far as the "pussy grabbing" comment from DJT. That, apparently, had no long term negative result for Turd.

I don't think Joe has a prayer of winning the nomination but I pray that he does. I can't tell you how much I would enjoy that. LOL!

Ask yourself why, out of the thousands of people in the world who were just as qualified for the position as Hunter was, Zlochevsky specifically recruited the son of the Vice President of the United States.
And? It happens every day, somewhere.

I think he does. Particularly when you look at the primary schedule and locations.

He doesn't have to win Iowa or NH. And if he doesn't, it doesn't kill him off. They make up something like 1.2% of available delegates.

Get past Iowa and he is polling well in NV and SC. And he appears to be doing well in most of the Super Tuesday states. And Super Tuesday holds 35% of the available delegates. The month of March holds another 30%.
