This thread on the 6 game rule was started 2 days ago. Sorry you can't keep up.

And I updated this thread after today's ESPN story broke

and for some reason you thought a 3rd thread on the 6 game rule was needed?

JFC, indeed

Where is David79 when you need him? Fran I appreciate your Hawk fandom and info on here however who cares if every single topic is appropriately categorized into your mega-thread? Sometimes people don't search or scroll the board before posting as it's not a requirement. Or perhaps it's an OCD thing for you?

There is a part of me that wishes the rest of the B1G would just bail on the season.

Ya wanted OSU, you got OSU. Why finish the season?

TV money from each game helps the conference minimize the financial impact they are experiencing this year. In other words, every penny counts and helps prevent further financial damage from occurring to each school’s athletic department.

And this is why they are playing bball, trying to get as many games in as possible while being flexible to play someone else should a team shut down.

Let's be honest, OSU is the flagbearer and has been for some time. No reason to screw them for no fault of their own.

A lot of posters are pretending like OSU/IU didn't play each other and are tied for the East champion-- they aren't. Ohio State beat Indiana straight up. If they are able then come play OSU again, I guarantee you the Buckeyes won't say no. OSU already played a short handed game without multiple starters and coaches.

tOSU is clearly the best team in the East

the B1G made the right decision

i still don't know why they painted themselves in a corner with the 6 game rule

I feel rules should be bent for the blue bloods but they should never be bent for irrelevant programs like Little Debbie. ;)

#4 ranked Ohio State currently sits at 5-0 and under the current rules they need to play Michigan (and get that 6th game in) in order to be eligible for the B1G Title Game.

The story from the Detroit Free Press:

Sorry but if tOSU is undefeated then Indiana has no business going

BIG lost more of its honor today. You don’t change the rules in the middle of the season, regardless of how silly or arbitrary they may seem. You wait until the season is over to re-evaluate them. Worst case here, OSU would’ve played Iowa or Wisconsin during championship weekend. BIG sold out just so OSU could play NW? The conference championship would have been meaningless to the playoff committee this year.

This season should be viewed as a bonus and nothing more. Who cares if it’s NW vs IU in the champ game? They made it there based on the rules everyone agreed to. Who cares if OSU technically doesn’t get into the BIG championship game this year? You preserve your honor as a conference and suck it up. Who’s to say BIG brass won’t step in and take Iowa out of the CCG in the future?

With regard to the playoff game payout, it’s not like the choice is between playoff money and nothing. Even if OSU didn’t get selected, they’d still be going to a high paying NY6 game.
